Kyrylo Budanov 🇺🇦 - "Everyone understands this is a collapse.
Putin has reached a dead end: he can neither end the war nor win it.
Victory is no longer possible for objective reasons.

Budanov’s point is that Putin is trapped by the war he created. He cannot achieve the victory he promised, but ending the war would expose the failure behind Russia’s imperial myth.
That is why Moscow keeps fighting. Not because it has a real path to victory, but because admitting defeat would mean admitting that Ukraine broke the image of Russian power Putin built his regime around.

Ukraine is not Russia. That's Putin’s problem – refusing to recognize a separate nation, refusing to recognize a separate country – that's what did him in. He was shown a military operation that was supposed to take three days. We found parade uniforms in their various military vehicles. They were literally marching to a parade. He still doesn't understand and doesn't want to admit that this is a different nation, a different people.
They were advancing on Kyiv from all directions. Their main goal was to seize the capital of Ukraine. They reached Kyiv. They trapped us, and then we started hammering them, and they didn't know what to do about it. They were especially shocked when they drove toward the capital and people were just throwing burning mixtures. People were setting their armor on fire. It wasn't a matter of some general being an idiot. I believe the one who gave the order just didn't fully realize what was happening.
Because what does taking Kyiv mean? When you've taken those towns on the way to Kyiv, you have to leave troops behind to hold those towns. And that takes a huge number of people. It's a pretty large territory. If the people inside offer resistance, then you need an army to hold every town. That was their mistake. They didn't even realize there would be resistance. That was their main mistake. That's it.

Ілля Михальчук. 36-річний воїн 67-ї бригади, колишній «Правий сектор», провів 46 днів у пеклі вагнерівського полону. Наприкінці лютого 2023 року під Бахмутом ворожа ракета влучила в автомобіль, у якому він перебував. Ілля потрапив до рук окупантів із тяжко понівеченими уламками руками.
Замість допомоги — жорстоkі знущання. Поранення перетягнули гумовими джгутами так, що їх неможливо було розв’язати. Через 10 годин його кинули в темний підвал. Ліва рука почорніла від неkрозу. Згодом Ілля отямився після медикаментів і побачив, що обuдві руku ампутовані по лікоть. Ранu навіть не зашили.
Далі були допити, приниження та знущання. Катu насміхалися з його kаліцтва й переконували, що він більше нікому не потрібен. Вони хотіли знищити не лише його тіло, а й віру в себе.
Але поруч були побратими. Вони годували Іллю, мили його, розмовляли з ним ночами, коли біль не давав заснути. У тому темному підвалі саме людська підтримка стала його порятунком.
Після звільнення Ілля знову побачив сонце, хоча від яскравого світла йому боліли очі...
Сьогодні він перебуває у США та вчиться користуватися високотехнологічними біонічними протезами. Вони допомагають керувати зап’ястями, згинати лікті й поступово повертати втрачені побутові навички. Після п’яти місяців він уперше зміг узяти в руку пляшку. Тепер Ілля вже може зав’язувати шнурівки, підносити чашку кави до губ і самостійно запалювати цигарку.
А потім сталося те, що красномовніше за будь-які слова. Коли перекладач запитав, чи може він показати росіянам середній палець, Ілля посміхнувся й зробив це.
Ось вам і відповідь тим, хто запевняв, що він нікому не потрібен.
Та жоден протез не поверне того, за чим він сумує найбільше: можливості обійняти дружину, взяти за руку сина й відчути тепло рідних дотиків. Ілля також мріє знову зустрітися з побратимами, які підтримували його в полоні, і нарешті обійняти їх.
Він не знає, чи зможе колись знову тримати зброю. Але продовжує тренуватися, відновлюватися й жити.
І знаєте, що в цій історії найстрашніше? Російські катu досі можуть вважати себе переможцями. Але людина, яка пережила їхнє пекло й не дозволила відібрати в себе гідність, уже спростувала їхні вироки.
Росія може калічити тіла, але не має права вирішувати, ким стане людина після пережитого. І кожен злочин окупантів має отримати свою ціну. Без забуття. Без виправдань. Без прощення замість справедливості.
