As Chair of the APPG on Kashmir, together with over 50 Parliamentarians , we have written to the Foreign Secretary regarding the current situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
We are deeply concerned about the serious escalation in tensions in particular the recent reports of live fire resulting in deaths and injuries.
Many British Kashmiris are concerned about the safety and welfare of their families causing real anxiety and distress across our communities.
The UK Government should use all appropriate diplomatic channels to support immediate de-escalation and a peaceful resolution through table talks at the heart of which must remain the inalienable human rights of Kashmiris.

British Muslims are portrayed as a monolithic voting bloc concerned only about foreign policy issues. The reality is they are disproportionately working-class and fed up, like everyone else, about the decline they see around them. Our latest Guardian film is out now.

This is a great piece. Thank you @FraserNelson for this thoughtful and nuanced contribution.
An iftar event open to all communities in the spirit of sharing has been weaponised as part of the ‘ongoing culture wars’ where Muslims are vilified if they engage publicly and vilified for not engaging enough.
Minorities who have experienced marginalisation and persecution understand where such vilification leads and it is heartening to see solidarity across faiths as well as from people who appreciate the importance of defending pluralism regardless of background.
The row over the Trafalgar Square iftar has seen Jews and Christians coming to the defence of Muslims.
My thoughts on a fascinating and important trend:-

Christians in The West have to watch this…
When I listen to pastor Hegseth and his religious crusade talk, this clip featuring Bek Lover frequently springs to mind, because the level of ignorance when it comes to religious tribalism is so amusing to me.
Everybody’s God is always on their side, but we never seem to hear that from God himself. How convenient.
