Friends, I’m running for Oklahoma AFL-CIO President. Now more than ever, Oklahomans need the kinds of policies that unions fight for. I’ve worked alongside Oklahomas unions during my time as a state representative, and I hope to work for them soon. Let’s get to work!

.@JamesTalarico: I want to get back to the kind of capitalism we had in the middle of the 20th century in this country. I want competition, but it’s got to be fair competition. We’ve got to take on these monopolies, this consolidation, because again it’s fundamentally anti-capitalist. Right now, our tax system literally taxes work more than it taxes wealth. I’m advocating for a return to original capitalist principles where we actually reward work instead of wealth—an economy that creates fewer trillionaires and more millionaires.

Who wrote this ... a dog?
A surprising new study finds that people who sleep near their dogs don’t experience disrupted sleep. If anything, the University of Toronto researchers discovered, we humans are the ones disturbing our dogs’ sleep. nbcnews.com/health/health-ne…

You recognize this and instead of going “race mixing is evil” like a logical person your solution is to force all 8 billion people alive to love and tolerate each other

SS taxes are paid on the first $250k an earner makes, every year. If we just raised that to $400k we’d fix the social security problem. There are candidates on your ballot this year who would do this & ones who like the boomer plan. Figure out which is which & vote accordingly.
JUST IN: 🇺🇸 US boomers overwhelmingly support higher taxes on younger workers to maintain current Social Security benefits, poll shows.

Turns out it’s $184,500 this year. I personally have never experienced the feeling of learning I’m no longer paying into SS because of my salary, but I’ve been educated by those who have. But at $250k or even $400k, I’d be happy to continue paying SS tax to fix it.

There are billboards in SF that say stop hiring humans, fam.
I think ppl working in the technology industry should understand that middle America is starting to hate us in a really visceral, potentially unrecoverable way It’s totally self-defeating and irrational on the part of middle America, but it’s very real and getting worse fast

This is a disaster for the human race and I’ve really lost patience with the useless morons who can’t see that. An AI video chat that passes for human has no necessary legitimate applications. It will be used to scam old people out of their life savings. Lonely, mentally vulnerable people are going to form romantic attachments to people who aren’t real. Isolation will increase. Mental illness will skyrocket even more than it already has. Kids in grade school will have AI boyfriends and girlfriends. All of this will happen. And worse things we can’t even conceive at this point. People are already forming unhealthy emotional attachments to text-based LLMs. Once there’s an audio and visual component, it’s over. Millions of brains will be broken irreparably. The benefits of this technology, whatever they are exactly, are so vastly outweighed by the societal catastrophe it will cause, and is already causing, that you can’t even measure the two categories on the same scale. But at least this is the best thing that ever happened to third world scammers. So if you’re in that community, congratulations.

By the way, the Texas government sued Austin to stop a train to serve this very airport.
If you’re flying into Austin tonight, you’re probably looking at a 1-hour or longer wait for an Uber.

Social Security is an integral part of ensuring retirement security for all. With fewer secure retirement savings options and personal savings, retirees depend more than ever on the safety and reliability of Social Security. Washington lawmakers should fight to strengthen Social Security not cut benefits.
BREAKING: Republican Congressman Mike Collins signals his intent to end Social Security: "[Old people need to] get off of Social Security [and] get back into the workforce."

I think it should be legal to fire these people into the sun.
Instinct CEO Noah Shinn says agents will let restaurants give tables to birthdays and anniversaries over whoever clicks first "And traditionally, because of the way that the internet has worked, at least for reservations, it's been first come first serve. So anyone that comes in, no matter how important or how not important it might be, whoever gets in first gets the reservation." "But what if you had the ability for the agent to be able to communicate on both sides, communicate, hey, this is important. This is actually the person's spouse's birthday, the 30th birthday, a very special event is coming up." "And the restaurant too can say, let's actually prioritize birthdays or major decade birthdays or major anniversaries or these certain people, I don't know, whatever it might be, right?" "So now with the ability, with all of the logistical burden of having to describe exactly what your case is and what's happening and why it's important. Now we have the ability to perfectly match what does the restaurant want? What does the user want?" "And that will result in more special events for the users being able to actually have a spot in the restaurant."

Read this full comment. It illustrates just ONE of the countless ways by which USAID simultaneously helped those in need here & abroad AND bolstered homegrown industries. Fed starving kids & put money in the pockets of hardworking Americans. Precisely how I want my tax $ spent.
Not surprising. USAID used to buy 2 million pounds of Georgia-grown peanuts a month to make a nutritional paste called Plumpy’Nut, manufactured in Fitzgerald, GA with added vitamins and minerals. It fed millions of severely malnourished children, with recovery rates around 90%.

Probably best to keep my OU football opinions closely held today. Otherwise Georgia could get ahold of it and turn it into a scoring drive
