The reality is, Black people are easily entertained lol. It really doesn’t take much to get our attention, and you can see that in what gets overwhelmingly consumed in our community IE (Zeus Network, the degradation of our music, reality TV, and much more.) At some point, we have to ask ourselves: Are we consuming something because it’s actually good, or because it makes us feel seen, offended, represented, or angry? Because if all it takes to get our attention is a Black cast, some stereotypes, a little racism, and controversy, then Hollywood doesn’t have to respect our intelligence. It just has to understand our triggers. The white libs running Hollywood and the black writers under their control to get things green lit understand this. They know they don’t necessarily have to give the Black audience something intellectually stimulating, culturally enriching, or even particularly well-made. Sometimes all they have to do is add a tiny pinch of racism, controversy, or racial tension, and suddenly the conversation starts. The content gets shared, defended, criticized, and watched. They’ve figured out the formula: give us just enough racial controversy to make us feel personally invested, and we’ll do the marketing for you. And and for the idiots (Disclaimer) I’m not saying Black people are incapable of recognizing quality or that everything Black audiences enjoy is bad. I’m saying we should be honest about how low the bar can be when something pushes the right emotional buttons.
