It’s a good thing we have the kind of despotic king who allows his political opponents to rally against him…it’s a rare trait in fascist dictators. #NoKings

Something you’ll hear in nearly every Evangelical church: “It’s all about Jesus.” But it ends there. It’s a nice slogan and looks good on t-shirts but in actuality Jesus is removed from every essential doctrine of the Christian faith.

Sanctification - your efforts + some help from Holy Spirit Baptism - your work of obedience to God. Lord’s Supper - no presence of Jesus, no actual deliverance of the forgiveness of sins. Justification - your decision to follow Jesus and give your life to him. Bible - law

Who are these ppl who are butt hurt that no one talked to them at church? It’s literally my goal not to talk to anyone at church.

I’ve been listening to @MikeCosper’s podcast The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill. As someone who planted with Acts29 it brings clarity to a lot of issues I encountered that have left me unsettled for nearly 10years. Lord have mercy.

And when things went sideways…much my own fault, I was left for dead. There was no room for failure in that system. The Mars Hill bus ran over many, including those that were only “affiliated” as the poisonous root pervaded the entire organization.

I left one large church planting/pastors fellowship that was encouraging a top down leadership model (The Moses Model) for another that was in many ways much worse and more dangerous.

It doesn’t make me want to shit on the Church…there’s plenty of that going round. It’s made me question what drew me to that brand of Christianity in the first place. In what ways was I complicit?

(2)of their incorporation documents that showed they had been using that name since 1896. They suggested that the larger/newer Willow Creek is the one who might need to change their name :) The smaller Willow Creek never heard anything again.

(1)Heard a story about a small rural church named Willow Creek...they received a certified letter from the large Willow Creek church in Chicago. The letter informed them that they were to cease from using the name “Willow Creek”. The rural church sent back a copy...
Oh yeah, just like Jonah.
God will use people who are available, bendable, and flexible to Him!
If you’re getting your second shot of let’s say...Pappy Van Winkle or Macallan 18 then I’m definitely interested. Otherwise keep your shot selfies to yourself.
Church for me is like owning a dog...the concept is better than the reality.

Church is essential as much as having Christ&his gifts delivered to u, a sinner, is essential. However,u don’t need a building or large group of people for this. Furthermore most churches don’t give Christ to sinners; they attempt to convince sinners to give themselves to Christ.

Pastors are now worried their FB and YouTube feeds will crash and they won’t get their sermons out tomorrow...truthfully most of those sermons aren’t worth listening to anyway. #coronavirus

Pastors: I know it’s hard to believe but your people will survive without hearing from you for a few weeks. #coronavirus
