PRESERVES TEMPORARILY CLOSED 1/23: Due to dangerous icy road conditions, and the recommendation of the Kane County Sheriff to keep off the roads until conditions improve, we are temporarily closing all Kane County Forest preserves, this morning.

Gov. JB Pritzker just announced that our Big Rock Forest Preserve trail improvement project will be awarded a $200,000 grant! Our project was among 19 across the state awarded a combined $3.7 million. For more details on the Governor's announcement, visit: gov.illinois.gov/news/press-…

UPDATE at 4:14 p.m. The District is going to keep Johnson's Mound Forest Preserve closed for the remainder of the day, to accommodate the prescribed burn. The preserve will reopen to the public at sunrise on Wednesday, Nov. 15. Thank you for your cooperation.
