I enjoyed meeting with Dr. Bruce McAllister, president of Bob Jones University, and Doug Abels, head of school for Bob Jones Academy this week. I’m grateful for their leadership and the schools’ focus on religious education.
We discussed the remarkable federal school choice tax credit in @TaxCuts and the importance of being able to choose to receive an education that is grounded in religion.
The Education Freedom Tax Credit allows taxpayers to receive a credit of up to $1,700 each year for contributions to fund K-12 student scholarships, helping families access faith-based schools like Bob Jones Academy. This landmark provision is a major win for South Carolina families and school choice.
A tariff is a tax that a government places on goods brought into a country from abroad. Importers pay this tax to the government when foreign products cross the border. Companies often pass these extra costs down to everyday shoppers. Consumers pay the increased cost.

Matt Bell, 52, has been farming for more than half his life in central North Carolina.
He grows soybeans, corn and wheat and raises beef cattle on more than 1,000 acres. But Bell, who voted for President Trump, says soaring prices for fuel, fertilizer and equipment are hurting his farm and leading some of his fellow farmers to consider calling it quits once this growing season ends.
"I do not want any Americans to feel sorry for the American farmer," Bell said. "I want the Americans to be mad that we have been put in this situation."
