No artist that has consistently fed their core fanbase has EVER fell off. - Curren$y - Fabolous - D Savage - Larry June - Tech N9ne - Wiz Khalifa - Freddie Gibbs - Mac Miller (while alive) - Lucki (various phases of his career) They may have had commercial troughs, but there was never a massive gap between new music and/or a tour. Some of them hit the highest peaks possible in this industry (Wiz - See You Again), but trying to sustain a position at the top has led to many people LOSING a career altogether. The nature of fame is the broader you go, the weaker the signal; or the less attached the fans become. And the original fans will waste away if they feel like they are no longer tended to. The broad audience is far less patient and forgiving, so they will move on, letting you burn out in under 2 years. We saw this happen countless times to artists that break really fast with a hit. But ironically, eventually the core fanbase gets so big and hits this boiling point where the artist becomes universally known, sometimes without a hit. - MF DOOM - Tech N9ne - Playboi Carti Carti is a different story because the time that he came out in allowed for a lot more content to replace the craving for music/mixtapes in the past. So leaks, snippets, IG videos, etc would fill in the gaps between major releases.
