Just amazing Des! 🙌
2 YEARS AGO TODAY… I WENT COAST TO COAST ↔️ 192 miles. 7 days. Across the North of England. Incredible to think back to that moment, stood with my feet in the water, knowing I’d just completed something that would change so much more than I could ever have imagined. Lots has happened since. The good, the bad and the indifferent. That’s life. But I had the mindset, the courage and the determination to give it a go and to see it through. I’m still incredibly proud, not just of the achievement, but of the indescribable difficulties encountered, endured and ultimately conquered along the way. Some of the biggest battles you face are the ones nobody else ever sees. When you strip away the noise, the distractions and the expectations of others, you’re left with yourself. Your thoughts, your doubts and your vulnerabilities. No applause, nobody to impress. Just you, putting one foot in front of the other and finding a way to keep going when stopping would be so much easier. It’s in those moments you discover who you really are. I’ve never really sat down and explained everything that journey meant to me. Perhaps I never will, and I don’t need to. Some experiences are deeply personal, and their value doesn’t depend on anyone else understanding them. The C2C, despite me not talking about it very often, taught me lessons that will shape the person I am until my very last day. It taught me that character matters more than image, kindness means more than popularity and showing up when nobody is watching says more about you than anything you could ever post online. It taught me that you don’t need to have everything figured out. You just need the courage to be honest with yourself, accept your vulnerabilities and keep working on the person you want to become. Most importantly, it taught me that SUPERFICIAL IS BORING. I have far more time for real conversations, genuine connections and people who mean what they say. For those who show up when it matters, celebrate others without jealousy and offer a hand without expecting anything in return. We live in a world that places so much importance on appearances, status and the impression we leave on others. When life gets difficult, none of that means much. What matters is who you are when things go wrong, how you treat people when there’s nothing to gain and whether the person you present to the world is the person you are when nobody is looking. REAL beats PERFECT. EVERY SINGLE TIME. I’m not the same person who stood in that water two years ago. Life has tested me in different ways since, and there’s still plenty to learn. But I carry those 192 miles with me every day. Not because I came away believing I was invincible, but because I learned I didn’t need to be. I just needed to be willing. Willing to try, to fail, to feel uncomfortable and to face the parts of myself I might otherwise have avoided. Two years on, I’m grateful I took that chance. For the challenge, the lessons, the perspective and the person it helped me become. The real achievement was never just getting from one coast to the other. It was discovering a little more about myself along the way. Life is too short to live for appearances, too precious to waste chasing approval and too meaningful not to make a difference where we can. Be real. Be kind. Be grateful. Keep showing up. 192 miles. 7 days. Lessons that will last a lifetime… #justDOingit #DOrunning #CoastToCoast #PersonalGrowth #RealOverPerfect

I was feeling nervous for the past few weeks, but yesterday I wasn’t nervous — I was more excited! 😊 The hills weren’t as bad as I thought they would be either, which I was really pleased about! 🏃‍♀️. #1sthalfmarathon

Well done Eve, you’re amazing! 🌟
It’s amazing to think that I used to hate PE, Games and cross country at Graham School. I hated cross country in Year 7 and didn’t do it in Years 8 & 9. Now I absolutely love running and exercise! ❤️🏃‍♀️ I really wish I could turn back the clock and enjoy PE more! #halfmarathon

To all my very kind friends - would you share this post please 🙏 YOU DONT HAVE TO BE A RUNNER 😜 Runners ✅ Walkers ✅ Families ✅ Children ✅ #NFFC family ✅ I organise a feel good 5k run/walk event from the @TrentNavigation on the last Sunday before Christmas, which includes a large food collection for the homeless and a significant donation to charity. This year the beneficiaries will be @footprintscec and the Bestwood & Bulwell foodbank. Not only an incredible charity but a chance once again to support those in most need in the area I grew up. Absolutely everyone can take part, to earn a medal & t-shirt and to know they've done something amazing. It really is accessible to all. Last year we had almost 100 participants - whilst it has the spirit of a fun run, it also encourages keen runners with prizes for the first 3 females & males. To sign up and for full details please check out: eventbrite.com/.../footprint…... New this year, I have set up a virtual offering, so those that really cant make it, can still participate from wherever you are. I'm also are looking for volunteers, to marshal for just a couple of hours on a Sunday morning. If involvement is not possible, we will be taking food donations throughout December. If you'd like to contribute, please get in touch. I'll happily collect from you (from now), if necessary. Finally, if you know anyone who would like to sponsor the event or become a partner, I'd love to have a chat. This is something I'd love to grow, to make an annual fixture in the calendar, so that we can continue to support collectively at such a crucial time of year. That is loads of ways to get involved! The event itself is brilliant VFM. By sharing this post or supporting, it's free to get involved, knowing you'll be doing your little bit to spread festive cheer. Thank you so much in advance❤️‍🔥

💜 DOrunning x Bubble and Bean UK 💜 Excited to announce that DOrunning will once again be collaborating with Bubble and Bean Cafe, West Bridgford, as part of this year’s Footprints in the Snow 5k event ⛄️ Together, we’ll be collecting food donations throughout December for Bestwood and Bulwell Foodbank, supporting those need it most throughout the Christmas period and cold winter months ❄️ Last year, generous donations from our community provided enough food for over 300 meals. This year, we’d love to collect even more but we can’t DO that without your help ❤️ If you’d like to get involved, we’ll be sharing more information soon about how and when you can drop off your donations at Bubble and Bean 🙏 Businesses can also support the appeal by hosting a donation drop-off point or organising a group collection. If you’d like to take part, please get in touch. All donations will be collected in advance of our Footprints in the Snow 5k event at the @TrentNavigation on 20th December 🏃🏻‍♀️ 🏃🏻‍♂️ To find out more: eventbrite.com/e/footprints-… Let’s work together to make an even bigger difference this Christmas🎄 #justDOingit #FootprintsInTheSnow #FoodBankAppeal #BestwoodAndBulwell #DOrunning
