People need to understand that football ratings are not calculated based on goals alone. I’m writing this because the comment section is a prove that people watch football with little or no knowledge about the game. A player’s rating is not determined by goals alone. You can score a hat-trick and still not get a 10. You can also score one goal, provide three assists, and get a 10/10 rating. The difference is in the overall performance and the statistical parameters used to calculate the rating. Yes, goals are important, but so are key passes, big chances created, successful dribbles, progressive carries, passing accuracy, possession won, defensive contributions, and overall involvement in the game. Another factor to consider is Ball possession. How often a player loses possession, alongside the circumstances of those turnovers, can influence the assessment of his performance. A player who repeatedly gives the ball away may have a less efficient performance than his goal contributions suggest. For instance, a player who scores a hat-trick by converting chances created by his teammates might have an excellent game. However, another player who scores twice, creates four big chances, completes multiple successful dribbles, progresses the ball from deep, and consistently creates opportunities for his teammates could have an equally influential or even more complete performance. That doesn’t automatically mean the second player deserves a higher rating. The actual statistics and the rating system’s weighting determine that. SofaScore ratings are calculated using multiple performance metrics, not personal preferences or a player’s name. If you believe Messi’s rating was undeserved, compare his complete match statistics with those of Luis Díaz instead of simply comparing their goals. Be informed!!!
