Madridโs Festival of Ideas suspended its sponsorship agreement with German insurance giant Allianz after celebrities said they would boycott the event over the companyโs financial ties to Israel, the Times of Israel reported.
โAllianz is today the worldโs largest buyer of Israeli state bonds and, therefore, an essential financial backer of the ongoing genocide,โ the signatories said, demanding the festival reject funding from companies that โcollaborate with the State of Israel in the destruction of the Palestinian people.โ
Organizers said the festival and Allianz agreed to suspend the sponsorship.
