🚒 Everything is OK, we promise! This morning, YQR will be hosting a full-scale emergency exercise of a simulated aircraft incident on our airfield. 🔥  There may be large plumes of smoke that appear to be coming from the airport during this time. At the airport, there may be actors in makeup appearing to be in distress and an additional presence of first responders, media, or actors portraying loved ones/concerned citizens. 🧑‍🚒 👮 👷  Over 150 individuals from different organizations will be involved in or observing the exercise including Regina Fire, Regina Police, City Officials, CBSA, Public Safety Canada, NAV Canada, RCMP, Public Health Canada, Regina Transit, Local Airline Staff, STARS, SPSA, SHA, Regina Airport Authority Staff, and volunteers. 🗓️  Transport Canada mandates that internationally designated Canadian airports test their emergency response plan every two years with a full-scale exercise. 💚  We want to thank our exercise participants, the public, and our travellers in advance for their support of this very important event at YQR.

🚧ROAD CLOSURE ALERT 🚧 Starting Monday, June 22, 2026, YQR will be repaving a section of Regina Avenue at the entrance to the airport property. This paving project is expected to last 2 days. Please follow the posted roadway signs to use Buffalo Trail as an entry/exit route for accessing the Airport Terminal, Rental Car Lot and Parking Lots. During the project, the Cell Phone Waiting Lot will be unavailable for use. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we maintain our infrastructure to continue to serve our community better!

We have learned that information has been shared online regarding alert messages that are only to be shared internally. The purpose of these messages is to ready our staff and close partners in the event of a potential issue or event at the airport that may necessitate the activation of our emergency operations centre (EOC). Earlier today there was a non-credible threat made against the airport. The alerting software provides a pre-scripted message to our staff on the nature of the concern. These messages are not intended for the public and should not have been published online. We want to assure those coming to YQR today that there was no event and the airport’s operations are normal. As per their protocol, RPS takes these threats very seriously and will be investigating further.
