Controlling arms and legs requires feedback from position/movement sensors (proprioceptors). But how is feedback flexibly tuned to match behavior? In our new preprint, we reveal how the motor system tunes proprioceptive feedback in Drosophila 🧵 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

New lab preprint on modulation of #Drosophila insulin producing cells (IPCs). How do single-cell transcriptomic analyses compare with Gal4-based expression mapping? Are IPCs really a homogenous population of 14 cells? 🧵 (1/n) biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Preprint 🚨
Everybody, put your cakes down! It’s time to talk about aminergic and peptidergic modulation of Insulin-Producing Cells (IPCs) in Drosophila.
I am over the moon to share our preprint today! 🤩

Must neuropeptides be released at active zones in fly neurons? For PDF, the answer seems to be no. I would imagine this is probably true for other neuropeptides too! However, peptide release does require a calcium-dependent secretion activator (CADPS). doi.org/10.1101/2023.06.20.5…

Glad to see the first collaborative paper from the lab out with the incredible @LuisAlfonsoYan2 in @GenomeBiolEvol. Big thanks to the editors and staff at GBE for the smooth review process.
My first paper as an independent researcher has been published today!. Small but a beautiful story about neuropeptide evolution, performed in collaboration with my friend and collaborator @zandawala. Thanks to the @BBSRC and @LSI_Exeter for the funding. tinyurl.com/mpf6nmtm

Excited to share our study on clock plasticity, published at @PNASNews! In it, we show how moonlight fine-tunes a plastic daily clock that can run with both #circadian (24h) and circalunidian (24.8h) periodicity to schedule the hour of reproduction.
