Next year will mark 45 years since British forces liberated the Falkland Islands. For some of those veterans who fought in that conflict, this may be one of the last major anniversaries they see.
We have confirmed that commemorations will take place on the islands to mark the anniversary, honouring those who paid the ultimate price for the freedom of the Falkland Islanders.
The front end looks like it’s been in an accident already!

Great stepfather?
Thank you.
You will all be disappointed if I don’t say it!
There I am, can you see me?
On this day in 1982, HMS Invincible returned to the UK from service in the Falklands War to a rapturous reception in Portsmouth.
Some extraordinary photos show the flotilla of boats and the crowds that turned out to welcome Invincible and her crew home. 🇫🇰🇬🇧
#Falklands44
I think that was settled in 1982!
Senile fool

Please help me keep my TD5 Defender on the road but this will be relevant to a lot of older cars!! ‼️IMPORTANT‼️ *Please Share.*
So the government is going to try and effectively remove old vehicles from the road.
They've created a sneaky consultation on this huge change with an end date of only the 6th of September.
They want to have a yearly emissions check on every car and motorcycle on the road AS WELL as your mot.
If you pass the mot but then go to your emissions check, if the vehicle doesn't emit exactly the same emissions as when it was built the car will be banned from any use on the road even if it passed its mot emissions.
‼️ This will effectively destroy cars for those of us who love older cars, as well as those who simply can’t afford a newer car. Also car tuning and modifications will be forced to stop you been able to drive your car.‼️
This is targeting all vehicle, cars, motorbikes, trikes, kit cars etc.
So far they are just targeting cars after 2001 but they want to use it on every vehicle on the road targeting mot & tax exempt (historic) vehicles.
They've purposely not given this consultation much time, so please go to the bottom of this page, click this link: smartsurvey.co.uk/s/x-QHYJB7… and click *DISAGREE* and tell them you do not want any of this from the government and share the consultation for others to do the same.
Only way to stop this would be to get the results of this consultation to be a resounding NO (DISAGREE)!

Even though I’m a classic rock fan, I couldn’t help but admire her songwriting skills. A great loss to the music family.

For today's #FalklandsDay, here's a short thread on the history of our National Day. 🧵🇫🇰
Celebrated annually on 14th August, Falklands Day marks the first recorded sighting of our Islands in 1592 by the English explorer John Davis. ⚓️

Lmao. In 1986, a U.S. Navy helicopter crew pulled off a great prank.
As the USS America was being relieved by the USS John F. Kennedy in the Indian Ocean, sailors from HS-11 acquired three piglets, dyed them red, white, and blue, covered them in grease, and dropped them onto Kennedy’s flight deck from a Sea King.
To add another layer to the prank, the helicopter crew numbered the pigs 1, 2, and 4.

Good advice from a Veterans group on Faceache.
⚠️ WARNING ORDER TO ALL ARMED FORCES VETERANS ⚠️
Stand by and check your pension.
The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that historic errors have been found in the administration of some Armed Forces pensions, particularly under the older AFPS 75 and AFPS 05 schemes. As a result, some veterans have been told they have been overpaid, while others may have been underpaid.
If you receive a letter from Veterans UK claiming you owe money, don’t panic and don’t assume the calculation is correct. The errors were made by the pension administrators, not by the pensioners.
Take the following action:
• Request a full breakdown of your pension calculation.
• Ask whether National Insurance Modification (NIM) has been applied to your pension and, if so, how it was calculated.
• Request a complete history of your pension payments and any adjustments made since your retirement.
• If your State Pension started after you retired, ask for a detailed explanation of any changes made to your Armed Forces pension at that point.
• If you disagree with the calculation, ask about the Armed Forces Pension Scheme’s formal dispute procedure before agreeing to repay any money.
Even if you have not received a letter, it is worth writing to Veterans UK and requesting:
• A copy of your original pension award.
• A pension payment history.
• Confirmation of which Armed Forces Pension Scheme you belong to.
• Confirmation of whether National Insurance Modification has been applied.
• A detailed explanation of how your current pension has been calculated.
Knowledge is your best defence. Check your paperwork, keep copies of everything, and don’t ignore any correspondence from Veterans UK.
Please share this post with fellow veterans. One share could save someone from unnecessary worry—or help them discover they have been underpaid.

🇬🇧 A childhood dream. A life of service. Gone far too soon.
At just 24, Petty Officer Owen Green had already achieved the dream he'd had since he was a kid: becoming a Royal Navy Junglie aircrewman.
He joined the Royal Navy in 2022, earned his Aircrewman Wings, and quickly built a reputation for his professionalism, kindness and the smile everyone remembered. He flew low-level missions, operated from ships, trained with NATO forces and even qualified for Arctic operations after flying in freezing conditions above the Arctic Circle.
Then, in the early hours of 3 June 2026, the Merlin Mk4 he was serving aboard crashed during a night training flight near Sourton, Devon.
Owen, Lieutenant Commander Chris Gayson and Lieutenant Lily-Mae Fisher all lost their lives. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
His career lasted just four and a half years, but he had already lived the dream he'd worked so hard for. He left behind his partner, Iona, his family, his friends and a Royal Navy family that won't forget him.
Rest in peace, Petty Officer Owen Green.
Lest We Forget.
