Carmelo Anthony says LeBron James saved his life when he jumped into the ocean to rescue him after a powerful current began pulling him away from their boat during a vacation in the Bahamas
“It’s truth, man. We was in the little grotto in the Bahamas, you know, you can swim underneath. I can swim, but I’m going to tell you some real shit. I can survive. That’s what you need. So we in there, and we trying to get back. Everybody swimming back to the boat, but I’m snorkeling too.”
“We snorkeling on the way back, and my head is in the water, and I’m snorkeling. And I look up, and every time I look up out the water, the boat is further and further away, and I’m getting pushed by the current, by the undertow and current. I’m like, ‘Yo, yo!’ Motherfuckers looking at me like I’m joking. I’m like, ‘Yo, I need help!’ I’m swimming, I’m trying to hold on to a rock.”
“I was exhausted. I’m like, ‘I ain’t going to fight that current like that.’ So one guy was like, ‘Just don’t fight it. Let it just go with it, go with the flow.’ And I see Bron jump in the water. He just, you know, Aquaman. Aquaman jump in the water.”
“Because D-Wade was right in front of me. He got on right before me, so I’m thinking D going to come back. But I know D ain’t rocking with the water like that. D there like, ‘Yo, yo, go get him! Go get him!’ And I just see Bron coming like, ‘I got you, champ. I got you.’ Grab me. We went back. We went back to the boat.”
“Man, all-purpose. LeBron is all-purpose, all kinds of shit. But it’s crazy because he can really, he’s very good at a lot of shit. Like, I don’t give a fuck what it is, he’s going to be successful at that. He’s going to figure it out. He one of them people. He’s just one of them natural freaks, man. I call him a lab baby, man. He was built in the lab.”

My problem w this is
1. You don’t get to light a match and walk away from the flame. She was part of the problem.
2. If you’re going to speak on the problem, tell the WHOLE story, not just the half that serves your narrative. Otherwise, you’re not helping solve anything. You’re helping it grow
Yes, I’ve seen fans of “this one person” (who we all know is Caitlin Clark) minimize the contributions and accomplishments of other players in this league. That deserves criticism. But I’ve ALSO seen Caitlin’s fanbase broadly labeled racist, called “coons,” and subjected to all kinds of vitriol for what amounts to perfectly normal basketball commentary about certain players
Calling out one form of abuse while ignoring another isn’t accountability. It’s selective outrage.

Amber Cox: “We did not have one fan pointed out by a player who violated the WNBA code of conduct this season. Not one fan was removed from a game.”
You can’t manufacture an offense, demand punishment, and then pretend the resulting animosity comes from nowhere
What IS offensive is broadcasters, players and fans fictionalizing arena behavior without identifying a single actionable violation
I love this league and wish it didn’t get in its own way so often…especially this season

This is big news for the WNBA. I can confirm that the NBA has hired the executive search arm of Caitlin Clark’s agency to find the next WNBA commissioner. Perhaps the ridiculous minimization of Clark’s impact, led by Cathy Engelbert, is coming to an end.

Then proceeds to close her comments section while getting cooked 😂
@TheAthletic where are your standards
Me having to log back into X to say…this was a simple misspeak. The stat was that she broke the LYNX rookie single assist record, not WNBA. I had done 2 podcasts before this one & simply misspoke. I am not racist, and I don’t hate CC. You can think whatever else past that, idc.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The Lynx rookie assist record was broken by Olivia Miles on July 20 the well over a month prior to podcast. The previous record was 148.

In the midst of all the craziness and political storms that envelope the WNBA, Caitlin Clark remains the most important player in all of pro sports. My column on the eve of her Toronto debut.

“Nobody needs a commissioner more than the WNBA right now.”
@BillSimmons shares his frustration with the discourse around the league and explains why there needs to be a change in leadership.

Caitlin Clark getting drafted is what genuinely got me into the WNBA.
I started watching games. I followed the league. I actually cared.
But I’m at the point where I can’t even watch anymore. Every hard foul, argument or controversy somehow turns into race, politics or identity.
I came for basketball. The political circus made me leave.

Wouldn’t it be great if these ladies competed at the highest level and then just showed love, appreciation, and respect for each other after games
The WNBA should be showing young girls how to uplift one another & not black vs white & drama. I wish the headlines were different

I’m a fan of Caitlin.
I’m also gay.
The idea that she’s some threat to queer women is nonsense.
It’s disingenuous, performative, and just desperate for attention.
If you need to invent danger where none exists, maybe look at the actual systems harming queer women instead of projecting it onto a basketball player who’s done nothing to deserve it.
Violence, discrimination, harassment, legislative attacks
Those are real dangers.
Those ruin lives.
Caitlin Clark has done none of that
If you genuinely think Caitlin Clark is the danger gay and queer women need to worry about, you’re not defending queer people, you are being unintelligent, ignorant and insincere.
You’re ignoring real queer women dangers so you can perform outrage at a woman who’s guilty of nothing except playing basketball.
It’s unserious. It’s embarrassing. And it’s exactly the kind of lazy, performative activism that does nothing to actually make meaningful change.
Grow up!
