Men strive for greater physical attractiveness in a mate than the partner market provides, and the pickiest men spent more time in singledom. Humans seek to spend considerable portions of their lives in long-term mating relationships, yet remain selective about whom they are willing to partner with. We examined whether pickiness (i.e., minimum mate standards) predicts how many years individuals have spent single, in uncommitted relationships, and in committed relationships. A representative Norwegian sample indicated their pickiness... The sample's pickiness was generally greater than the population could be expected to live up to. When all traits were averaged together, few participants were willing to partner with someone below average, and around a quarter of individuals could be classified as requiring a partner two standard deviations greater in desirability than the expected population average. [In practical terms, being two standard deviations above the population average means an individual or item ranks in the top 2.3% of desirability relative to the rest of that population, assuming a normal distribution, or "bell curve"]. For men, greater pickiness for physical attractiveness predicted more years single, fewer years in committed relationships, and fewer committed relationships overall. Furthermore 85% and 80% of men required their partner to be at least average or above average in facial and bodily attractiveness, respectively. As such, most men reported being unwilling to partner with someone below average in physical attractiveness. These findings may be interpreted as men's expectations for physical attractiveness being excessive, thereby resulting in increased singlehood. The finding that pickiness for physical attractiveness increased singlehood among men need not reflect that men struggle to set realistic standards. On the contrary, it may be adaptive for men to trade half a year of additional singlehood per increase in pickiness for attractiveness in exchange for acquiring a mate of greater mate value. Among women, overall pickiness was associated with more years in uncommitted relationships, but not with more years single. At the observed-variable level women's standards for physical attractiveness did not appear excessive, sometimes falling below the expected population average. For bodily attractiveness, more women were willing to partner with someone below average (35%) than required an above-average partner (23%). Moreover, the greater women's overall pickiness, the more they reported both having been in uncommitted relationships they wished had become committed and being single due to interest in partners unwilling to commit.

🙄🙄🙄 Not a single thing RFK says here is even remotely accurate. -Not “the” Ukraine. -US didn’t “push” Ukraine into war twice; Russia invaded twice. -Zelensky didn’t run on or sign Minsk 2. -Minsk 2 wasn’t 2019 or 2022; it was 2015. -Putin didn’t withdraw troops, he sent more.
RFK Jr: Because of our pushing the Ukraine into the war— Hannity: We pushed them to it or did Putin invade—

TUCKER CARLSON @CarlsonTonight Somehow Viktor Orban from Hungary brain-washed him. The staff on his show apparently does no fact checking. So I did some for them. These are some of the allegations he has made and how inaccurate they are./1 @Threadapp unroll

It’s a disturbing fact that Germans experienced for decades. They changed it by collectively taking responsibility, creating a strong democracy that encouraged soul searching. @IrisovaOlga, will the Russian people collectively soul search & why didn’t they already post Stalin?

Russia’s Declining Fossil Fuel Revenues: The EU’s bans and price caps have resulted in a decline of daily fossil fuel revenues from the bloc of nearly 85%, falling from their March 2022 peak of $774 million per day to $119 million as of February 22nd, 2023. Although India has stepped up its fossil fuel imports in the meantime, from $3 million daily on the day of the invasion to $81 million per day as of February 22nd of this year, this increase doesn’t come close to making up the $655 million hole left by EU nations’ reduction in imports. Similarly, even if African nations have doubled their Russian fuel imports since December of last year, Russian seaborne oil product exports have still declined by 21% overall since January according to S&P Global. Other Factors Impacting Revenues: Overall, from their peak on March 24th of around $1.17 billion in daily revenue, Russian fossil fuel revenues have declined by more than 50% to just $560 million daily. Along with the EU’s reductions in purchases, a key contributing factor has been the decline in Russian crude oil’s price, which has also declined by nearly 50% since the invasion, from $99 a barrel to $50 a barrel today. Whether these declines will continue is yet to be determined. That said, the EU’s 10th set of sanctions, announced on February 25th, ban the import of bitumen, related materials like asphalt, synthetic rubbers, and carbon blacks and are estimated to reduce overall Russian export revenues by almost $1.4 billion.
