Brent Key: “This team needs to understand, anybody can beat anybody on Saturdays. We’ve shown that we can play with anybody on Saturdays, and we can get in a hole and then turn it around and come out of it and play. But it’s the consistency that goes through that.”
Brent Key: "I'm not sitting here trying to blow smoke by any means, but there was improvement made in places. That's what you have to show the guys. Guys have to understand, we improved here, here and here and we didn't here. Well, let's find out why we didn't."
BLACKSBURG, Va. — Georgia Tech’s turnaround lasted just a week.

Long list of Georgia Tech players again this week on the initial injury report ahead of the trip to Virginia Tech. Tech's leading rusher, Justice Haynes, is doubtful.
That will likely be on the table for Kyle.
Brent Key: “We’ve had some conversations. Y'all know what I want him to do, but he will be able to do whatever he wants to do and whatever fulfills him for the rest of his life.”
Brent Key told his Georgia Tech players in a meeting during spring practice two years ago that nobody on the team was a leader. Nobody was a captain. He went off on the group and returned to his office.
Minutes later, Kyle Efford walked in and slammed his hand on Key’s desk.
“Why am I not a leader?” the linebacker asked. “Why am I not a captain?”
Key laughs now when he tells the story.
“Kyle, it was a little bit of a show there,” Key told him. “You are, man.”
Efford had to make sure.
“This means more than anything in the world to me,” he told Key.

After Kyle Efford’s shoulder injury worsened, doctors told him last month he likely would never play again.
With his team 1-3 and facing undefeated, ranked Duke, Efford decided he had to play at least one more game. He had accepted his career had to end. But he would go out on his terms.
“This man felt as if he could single-handedly will us out of a rut,” Brent Key said. “And he did. He did. There’s 11 guys on defense and 21 arms out there; he left it all on the field.”
