Congratulations to Dr. @RchaGhosh and Dr. @SuchiVijay on the successful defense of their doctoral theses. Richa starts her postdoc work at @sarazencatlab in Princeton, NJ and Suchi begins her career at @exxonmobil in Houston, TX. We wish them every success in the years ahead!
The Flaherty group candidate collection continues to grow! Congratulations to Khanh Le and Mohammad Ghadiri for successfully passing their thesis proposals. Excellent works!
We're excited to announce our lineup for the Southeastern Catalysis Society. We have great talks from @hustonlocht and Geoffrey Hopping, and many great posters to check out. We hope to see you at Virginia Tech this week!
Our new paper in @ACSCatalysis by @hustonlocht, Dr. @DP0TTSY07, and Zhara Rangoonwala investigates the effects of alcohol chain length in Lewis and Brønsted acid zeolites. Check it out here: ⛓️doi.org/10.1002/anie.2025119…⛓️
Tomorrow begins the #AIChE2025 annual meeting hosted by @ChEnected in Boston, MA. We are excited to release our schedule of wonderful presentations and posters, including Catalysis Travel Award Winner @hustonlocht, on heterogenous catalysis, electrocatalysis, and zeolites!
🥳We are excited Diogo, Genevieve, and Brian recently joined our team!! They join us from @GeorgiaSouthern, @UofC, and @UWMadison respectively. We are excited to have you!🥳
What's the deal with cation solvation microenvironments? @its_mattyj53 and @hustonlocht explore this effect within zeolite pores in our new paper! Check it out here: 🤗 doi.org/10.1021/acscatal.5c0…🤗
Bridging the gap between thermocatalysis and electrocatalysis, @chung_minju and @W_Broomhead utilize electrocatalytic measurements to garner new insight into the complex thermocatalytic reaction chemistry for glucose oxidation. Check it out here: 🫲doi.org/10.1021/acscatal.5c0…🫱
Third times the charm! We are happy to announce that Eric Sarbacker has passed his thesis proposal, marking the third PhD candidate of the year.
🚨#NAM29 is coming to our hometown of Atlanta! We are proud to have 2026 Paul H. Emmett Award winner Dr. Dave Flaherty and Kokes travel award recipient @RchaGhosh , but be sure to also see our many other presentations on electrochemistry, zeolites, and heterogenous catalysis.
The slime is sublime! In our newest @J_A_C_S paper we bind quinones to Pd nanoparticles, simultaneously improving paths for direct H2O2 synthesis and enhancing proton-electron transfer using redox mediators. Check it out here: doi.org/10.1021/jacs.4c15874
Dr. Jason Adams, Haoyu Chen, @SuchiVijay, and Dr. Tomas Ricciardulli put some incredible effort into this paper, and that is reflected in being featured on the cover of @J_A_C_S! Congrats!
This work was done in collaboration with @curious_grad from the Neurock Group. They provided DFT calculations describing the influence of mediator chemical structure on H2O2 formation.

Congratulations to our second, and coolest, PhD candidate of the year - Adam Senko - who passed his thesis proposal early this week!
Aldol condensation + zeolite topography = ??? See our new @JCatal_J paper by Dr. Zhongyao Zhang and @its_mattyj53 that demonstrates how pore structure changes both product distributions and reaction networks in alcohol valorization. Check it out here: doi.org/10.1016/j.jcat.2025.…
