I think a lot of people complaining about the Netflix broadcast of the Home Run Derby are stats nerds who became accustomed to the alternative Statcast feed and don't realize that most people don't want to see launch angle and exit velocity and just want to see ball go far.
Losing two tight games to the Hawks unlocked something and somehow turned the Knicks into the '92 Dream Team.
The death of fan-voted award shows is an absolute travesty. These are important counter-balances to the "prestige" awards and are supposed to provide a wealth of shared cultural moments.
It is time to announce the nominees for the 3rd Annual SicOscars (i.e., who I would nominate for the Oscars if it was up to me). And the nominees are:
