Commissioner @HenMackIII joined Labor Secretary @Sonderling47 and a panel of Florida employers, legislators, and educators to tout Florida’s K–20 system, a system that treats skills, credentials, and work-based learning as the point of the enterprise—not an afterthought to seat time.
That means scaling apprenticeships, connecting colleges and career and technical education to employer demand, and measuring success by whether people get good jobs and keep them.
Federal and state systems work best when they pull in the same direction. Secretary Sonderling’s confirmation gives us a clear partner in that work. Florida is ready.
First, big congrats, @Sonderling47, on your Senate confirmation as U.S. Secretary of @USDOL.
Second, big thank you for coming home to Florida today to talk all things workforce education—apprenticeships, skills, & putting American workers first.
Florida is ready to partner. Let’s build. 🇺🇸

The data in Florida show that despite the Legislature’s billion dollar effort to raise teacher salaries, they’re still getting the short end of the stick while administrators are living large.
Union contracts at the local level block teachers from directly receiving the pay raises the Legislature has given them.
And Florida districts have more money available to them today than before universal choice. All while serving fewer students.
If school districts are looking for ways to improve their finances, they should start by trimming their administrative bloat.
If the unions are looking to give teachers a raise, they should see themselves out and let teachers receive the money they’re owed without the union middleman.

We‘ve already enacted universal school choice so the extra $1700 from the new federal program is gravy in Florida. Why would Democrat states refuse to allow parents to access this benefit, especially when they don’t have school choice programs of their own?
Democrat politicians are scared of the school unions.
