Last week, a group of activists disabled the OMNY readers at the BQ Church Avenue station in Brooklyn with an automatic center punch and drill. They opened the gate so people can ride for free, and painted the cameras to protect themselves and fellow riders from surveillance.
This was deliberate act of protest against unaffordable transit, hyper-surveillance in predominantly Black and brown neighborhoods, and the MTA's collaboration with the military industrial complex.
YOU ARE BEING WATCHED. OMNY records when and where you travel, your photograph, name, DOB, billing address, and other personal details. This invasive tech creates a profile to track your life and travel patterns. OMNY’s privacy policy places no limits on the data it collects about you.
EVERY TAP FUNDS A WAR PROFITEER. OMNY is operated by Cubic, a military equipment company making combat simulators. They sell the F-35 fighter jet training system to imperialist zionist entities like israel. The F-35 is a key weapon in israel's genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, and all of the US's imperialist wars, responsible for massacring millions of people.
FIGHT BACK. The MTA and Cubic don't deserve your hard earned cash. Take action, smash a reader, jump the turnstile, hold the gate for others. If you must pay, use cash for OMNY cards, and tap yourself and fellow riders in. This makes you all less traceable. Cover your face and identifying features. Always check for police before evading the fare. Remember, contracted security guards have no authority to stop or detain passengers.
RIDE FREE, FUCK THE NYPD, AND FREE PALESTINE!

Wonder what’s changed?
Cars make people more in debt. Who knew? But people hate public transportation because it’s supposed to be for poor people. It’s what big auto wants you to believe. We need to densify our cities around public transit.
BREAKING: America’s $1.7 trillion auto loan market is headed for a crash, per Reuters.
Auto loans are now one of the biggest sources of household debt, bigger than credit cards.
And the strain is showing: 1 in 5 Americans is behind on at least one loan, the highest since 2010, and the average car on the road is now nearly 13 years old, a record.

“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?”
Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

Also give it a full exemption from ALL environmental review. HSR is intrinsically good for the environment.

Me, in my new Tesla, after getting piss ass drunk at the Hard Rock casino and losing it all
Indeed a cool trick with gas thrusters. Honestly this is just a flashy demonstration with no real value to a vehicle. It won’t be shipped because of safety issues. More car porn when we should be making plans for national high-speed rail and a nuclearized electric grid.
What a shithole country.

Unpopular opinion: free child care paid by the state is not nearly as important as universal healthcare. Priorities people. Having a child is a choice. Getting sick is not a choice. It bugs me people talk about childcare more than universal healthcare.

The US is not coming to your aid, Ukraine. We are unreliable and our leader is a Putin stooge. Time for you to stop caring what the US thinks and do whatever you need to do to win. Refineries, ports, data centers, the Kremlin....doesn't matter, hit it all.

As we mark again the World Day Against the Death Penalty, we call to mind God’s command: ‘do not repay anyone evil for evil.’ (Romans 12:17)
Amidst a culture that seems focused on death, we remember that no person is beyond God’s love, mercy and redemption, as Archbishop Shelton J Fabre, reminds us. The Church offers this message to all people - without exception. We mourn with victims’ families and also recognize that the death penalty only pulls us away from a culture of life.
Join us in prayer for an end to the use of the death penalty in our country and around the world, and for the conversion of all hearts and minds towards a culture of life.
