I usually lose at least one jig a trip fishing the timber in my river. Picked up this inexpensive one at Cabela's and I have to say it comes through wood like butter! Fished the whole day on submerged brush and stumps and not one hang up!

Had to wade through some small ones to get anything to write home about. Weightless fluke tight on cover on a very humid morning.

I am saying my prayers tonight that the typical Labor Day shenanigans do not occur tomorrow at the boat ramp.

Noticed that the water temps had dropped three degrees after a cold front passed. Figured the fish would be higher in the water column. Fished that jackhammer almost like a top water, sub surface. Caught a nice one on it!

I haven’t been able to get on the water in over a month due to some family obligations. Caught a nice one this morning ledge fishing before the storms drove me off the water.

I just got back from dropping the oldest off at school in Tennessee and I have to say, I've never had a more pleasant experience. Good people, good views, good food, and not the hustle and bustle in Northern Virginia. Definitely top tier!

It’s that point in summer where they’ve stopped chasing baits but won’t pass up on an easy meal coming past them. Zoom Mag worm dragged over river ledges. Even catches the small ones.

Experiment worked, no line twists, and I think the extra weight of the swivel close to the head gave the bait some fall when I killed the action. Caught some nice ones pushing shad up on banks.

I obsessively retie after every couple of catches (or right after a big one) so fishing with a leader and barrel swivel, leader line gets used up quickly. After my line twists today while fluke fishing I had an idea, barrel swivel to split ring, spit ring to hook. Going to try this tomorrow, and see if it works. Yes, I am lazy and hate tying leader lines, but don't mind retying baits.
