I think there's been enough proof this year that preseason rankings in College Football need to go away.

The bigger problem?
Texas Tech, Utah, Oklahoma State, and Kansas State are their next four games.
Big 12 has a massive opportunity to get multiple teams in the College Football Playoff because the expected good teams are actually doing good.
Last year, there were four preseason AP Top 25 from the Big 12: Arizona State, Iowa State, Kansas State, and Texas Tech.
Only Tech ended up having a Top 25 caliber season, while BYU, Utah, Arizona, Houston, and TCU emerged later, but had to climb throughout the season.
This year, Big 12 had Texas Tech, BYU, Utah, and Houston. Through three weeks, all four of those teams are still in the AP Top 25.

College football literally doesn’t have enough crossover games to determine strength of conference.
When the SEC played bowl-eligible teams on neutral fields in the post season, they were 4-10 last year.
This is why rankings matter.
This should be a #22 vs # 24 matchup that would get casual viewers tuning in to watch a ranked matchup.
Instead, it’s just another game that the national media will largely ignore completely.
Weird how the CFP Committee waited until AFTER the SEC’s 10-2 non conference start to announce they were going to consider strength of conference.

The Protect College Sports Act passes what is, likely, its final procedural hurdle with 74 supporting votes, paving the way for a final vote likely Monday barring a compromise today.
The PCSA passed all five procedural votes with at least 70 votes. It needs 51 in the final vote.
Capping coaching salaries and athlete compensation? A new revenue-share pool of cash? A delayed vote til next week?

ESPN owns the rights to broadcast the College Football Playoff.
ESPN also is the exclusive media partner of the SEC.
When the SEC wins, ESPN makes more money.
It is 100% in the best interest of ESPN to push and control any narrative towards the SEC.
Serious question, if you play ONE non-conference game against P4 opponents, how can you really know how good a conference is?
Especially when some of those teams are cancelling games against elite competition from other conferences to play lower-tiered P4 opponents.
So….
SEC cancels all of their tough P4 non conference games to replace them with Rutgers, Wake Forest, and Kansas, and then gets to claim their strength of schedule is so much better than everyone else because they go 10-2 in those games.
Meanwhile, BYU, Texas Tech, Miami, and SMU can’t get good P4 competition because no SEC or Big 10 schools want to hurt their non conference rankings.
Of course the SEC is going to do well in their single P4 game, they are playing the worst of the ACC and Big 12.
All the following teams started the season unranked:
Team A: 3-0, beat ranked team neutral
Team B: 2-1, beat unranked P4 team at home
Team C: 3-0, beat unranked P4 team on road
Team D: 3-0, beat 2 unranked P4s
Which team should be ranked the highest?
Team A right?
What if I told you they are the only unranked team today.
Don’t tell me bias doesn’t exist.
