100% MLS academy u16 call up!! No words for this kind of spirited recruiting effort. We are so bad at this.. @TaylorTwellman This is what I was talking about…. How do you justify the incestual relationship between US Soccer and MLS without saying the ynt call up system lacks merit? And since our national ynt lacks merit, the national team lacks merit.

La forma americana de llevar a un niño a hacer deporte debería estudiarse.
🇪🇸 En España:
Tu hijo quiere jugar al fútbol.
Lo apuntas al equipo del barrio.
Entrena martes y jueves.
Partido el sábado.
Tú llevas agua.
Fin.

I was talking to a former men’s D1 coach of about 20+ years the other day. Talking top 25 team every year.
He said was honestly not interested in recruiting MLS Next/ECNL kids by the time he retired.
He said those players are rarely able to step in and compete against older players as they’ve never done it before.
That’s why he was interested in international players (ones who are 18/19) because a lot had experience of playing against men.
The U.S. system doesn’t promote that.
Only 25% of our clients here at Sports Recruiting USA are internationals. But we’d estimate that the majority of them have played against adults in their 16-18 development.
Got a kid who’s wanting to play college in the next 2/3 years. Try get involved in an adult league set up. UPSL, MLS NEXT PRO (if lucky), and lots of others popping up everywhere.
Hope this helps someone.

🇺🇸 For American families worried about college soccer 🇺🇸⚽️
We pulled every NCAA D1 and D2 men’s roster from last season.
📊 11,702 players. Here’s what we found.
🇺🇸 2 out of 3 players are American.
🔥 More Americans are regular starters than internationals: 2,009 to 1,713.
And if your son is a freshman who isn’t playing, read this part 👇
American players who started a game, by year:
🎓 Freshman: 38%
📈 Sophomore: 60%
📈 Junior: 68%
🔥 Senior: 77%
It doubles. 📈
In freshman year, the gap between American and international players is 27 points.
By senior year? Just 6.
🇺🇸 American players usually aren’t recruited to start on day one. They’re recruited to develop.
And they do. 💪
By the time they’re upperclassmen, they start at almost the same rate as anyone else.
A quiet freshman year isn’t a failed career.
It’s the normal one. ⚽️📈

At just 20, he was called up to represent his country at the U20 World Cup while he was beginning to get minutes with Arsenal’s first team. During the tournament, he suffered a devastating ACL injury that kept him out for a long time. His recovery was further complicated by another surgery, and it took more than 18 months before he was able to get back on his feet.
During that difficult period, Wenger, who had been his mentor, left Arsenal. Despite everything, he still returned to first-team preseason training, determined to rebuild his career. Then, tragedy struck again: one of his parents and his sister were involved in a car accident and passed away, forcing him to leave preseason.
When he eventually returned, he was dealing with far more than just being physically unfit. He had also fallen out of Emery’s plans, leading to a loan move where he struggled to find stability and never truly settled at a club.
A footballer’s journey comes with challenges that often remain unseen. From the outside, it can look like a player simply lost their way, but there can be an entire story behind it.

Arsenal wonderkid had us HYPED. At 16, he was being talked about as one of the most exciting young midfielders in the world, but his development hit a wall.
Arsenal loaned him out twice, he moved to MLS with Kansas City and NYCFC to get back on track, tried his hand in Europe again from 2023-2025, and is now with New Mexico United in the USL...
....what could've been....

Yan Diomande signing for Real Madrid for 125 million euros and he didn’t even play MLS NEXT.
Think about that for a moment.
Maybe 3-years ago he was at a soccer-school in Florida and played UPSL.
No MLS NEXT.
No ECNL.
No youth soccer badge.
Top players deliver.

Most ‘elite’ youth soccer clubs are located in wealthy suburbs - and away from obvious population centers.
Why?
Because we aren’t looking for ⚽️ players… we’re looking for rich parents ready to pay up.
