Leadership, although a nebulous concept, takes many shapes and forms for success. it is apparent in the culture and what is valued more, people or policies. It is apparent when leaders are taught not only the technical aspects of of being a leader, but the fundamentals of leading

Yeah, I left Verizon for AT&T FirstNet. Got tired of the run around from Verizon about being a loyal customer but not getting the feeling back.

I woke up this morning and read that. Had to make sure I was reading it correctly. I can’t even imagine. Heartbreaking

Awesome podcast and great to hear some leadership principles from Capt. Hill! A lot of great insight to for us non-military leaders, especially for those of us in the Fire and emergency services fields. @ChowdahHill

I boggles my mind that publishers still produce actual books for the younger generation "tablet kids." There are so many apps for ipads, etc. I watch my 5yo and 2yo do educational games on their tablets and wonder if they'll ever have actual text books.

We have a patient in our first due we routinely respond for lift assist along with the ambulance company. The house smells like human and dog poo. Have seen piles of either variety in the house before.

Immediately thought of the song That Smell from Lynayrd Skynyrd... "Ooh, that smell Can't you smell that smell? Ooh, that smell The smell of death surrounds you"

How to reward good work… - Pats on the back - Say “good job” - Give an award - Write them a letter - Give them coins and pins - Promote them early - Give head-of-line privileges - Publicly recognize them - Give them a cookie - Give them a second chance - Listen to their concerns - Do something about their concerns - Let them try new ways of doing business - Give them a duty-free day - Give them a day or two off - Provide new tools to do their work - Invite them to lunch - Explain the future - Explain their future - Treat them like equals… in fact, treat them like you could be working for THEM someday. What else am I missing?

Just read about this charge in chapter 6 of Adm. McRaven’s book, The Wisdom of the Bullfrog.
