The security team failed to realize Heinze used Walmart’s "Scan & Go" app to pay for all his items directly on his smartphone. Because he didn't check out at a traditional register, staff assumed he was stealing. Despite Heinze explaining the app's functionality and demanding to see the video evidence, Officer Jeff Bloomquist detained him anyway.
