✨ Toolbar menus update:
Here's the latest design, pending further feedback and user testing. See github for more info: github.com/mozilla-mobile/fe…
—@violasong
I'll also be testing this grid menu concept.
Pros: Compact, and the more spatially oriented design might be quicker to use after you get used to it.
Cons: Less text-scannable, possible feeling of mystery meat icon overload.
After going through a few rounds of feedback, I have two new menu variants that I'll be testing.
1: "Save to" row (with labeled bookmark action)
2: "Save to" sub-menu (with two paths to bookmark)
Feedback welcome here or on github.com/mozilla-mobile/fe…

Update! Sadly, I have no mockups to share at this time because us UX folks are working on long-term planning and designs which need more time to bake. Most of our engineers are currently bug fixing, but there are also improvements to the address bar in the works. —@violasong
Hi all! It's been a while since I've had an update on the homescreen or menus because I discovered new factors that need to be researched and analyzed first. We're having a lot of discussions around balancing priorities right now.
I hope I can share more mockups soon! —V
A small change in the works:
🔎 We can simplify the address bar by making the search engine logo a button for switching search engines. Feedback welcome! —V

Update: Took a step back from my previous homescreen mockups to explore more concepts! These aren't standalone proposals, but rather examples to help guide our discussions. Am I missing any concepts?

📯 Feedback wanted: New Firefox for Android home screen designs!
This design gives you easy access to Bookmarks and History, and moves the top sites to within thumb's reach. (See github.com/mozilla-mobile/fe… for more info)

RE: Toolbar menu reading direction: @nactgl pointed out that the app's bottom-to-top menu animation causes him to read from bottom to top. For me, the animation is fast enough that I read top-to-bottom. Still, showing a static image for the survey may be misleading 🤔

🏠 I've started working on the homescreen, which will be done in two phases as explained here. github.com/mozilla-mobile/fe…
A question for folks who loved the old Android app: Was there anything *bad* about the tabbed homescreen approach? 🙂 I mean, could it have been improved? —V
For general feature requests and bugs, it's best to search the issues at github.com/mozilla-mobile/fe… to see if something has already been filed. —V
Part of the purpose of this Twitter account is to do a "safety check" on UX ideas while it's still early.
It's very helpful to know if folks have some use case/concern that I haven't considered. (I'll try to post about what I *have* considered.) —@violasong
