Alexander Stubb - President of Finland gave a very empassioned speech about Ukraine which I think we should all listen to.

President Zelensky, today on Piers Morgan, discussing the White House becoming a proxy for the Putin regime Piers Morgan: Do you feel betrayed? Zelensky: Yes. It's a pity that we are losing a strong partner. Piers Morgan: You think you're losing America? Zelensky: Yeah, but not because of us. We can't be weak. We're not selling our country. Look, guys, it's not about business for us. It's our lives. It's our country, our home, our children. Zelensky: If you're in the middle, you have to stay in the middle, not on the wrong side. I think Trump's advisers are wrong. I don't know who is pushing him to the wrong side. This is not the right side of history.

Just so you understand the scale of betrayal: first, our "partners" didn't warn Ukraine about the incoming ballistic missiles, so the air raid alert wasn't activated before impact, robbing people of their chance to survive. Then, Starlink was restricted to stop working at speeds above 100 mph. This renders useless, first and foremost, our interceptor drones. It doesn't limit our ability to attack inside Russia, it limits our ability to stop another apartment building or school full of civilians from being hit. Wow, just wow.

Wtf? Trump working for Putin against our allies! USA come to your senses please.
Kyiv again received no warning of Russian ballistic missile attack. If Trump has in fact cut off that intelligence-sharing with Ukraine, he will have blood on his hands.

For those at the back who weren't paying attention: It's not just about the first couple of weeks of an infection It's about the problems it causes that you don't even see until three or six or twelve or sixty months or two hundred months after the infection.

“Single fault at Thames Water works could imperil London’s supply.” So decrepit has Thames Water’s leaky London infrastructure become that contingency plans have being drawn up involving “Mass evacuations, with the military on standby”, I sh*t you not. ft.com/content/97e41a5c-4cf2…

At ~2am this morning, I was on the phone to a cardiology registrar. They gave expert advice about some lifesaving interventions. That expertise is invaluable. It’s certainly not worth 21% less than it once was. A good deal can be done to restore value, if govt wanted to do it.
“We’re asking to get round the table to talk about a realistic, sustainable and credible offer that works for doctors and also, crucially, works for patients.” Our chair @fletchjack speaks to @TimesRadio this morning

The battle should not be with a digital or with numbers. It should be with patients’ ill health. Exhausting doctors and pharmacists and others energy/goodwill on these is inefficient.
GP surgery was a battle trench of digital misery today. Every person trying to fight the “book online” by coming in being turned away. Pharmacy similar - no order without NHS app. This all feels a bit brutal and Kafkaesque 😞

I’ve tried with hrv and seems has no correlation with my symptoms or available reserve. Still, watching this space with interest.

A NEW review explores how SARS-CoV-2 may influence cancer risk. ➡️ Unlike classical oncogenic viruses, it doesn’t insert viral oncogenes. Instead, its proteins: -Inhibit tumor suppressors -Activate growth, survival & inflammation pathways 👉 Potential role in cancer initiation & progression. 1/

Oh this. This is being a GP
I have obtained the patient’s permission to share his story below… I’ve chosen to post it now, years later, as I feel it highlights the danger of taskification of medicine & how detrimental it can be for patients Some details changed for further anonymity 🧵 1/n

People understand if their hairdresser, nail technician, dentist or dog groomer hasn’t got capacity to see them that day. GPs don’t have endless capacity, and we can’t build any more with the inadequate funding we have been given. That’s the reality.
General practice in Northern Ireland is in crisis. GPs are now taking collective action - we need an improved offer from the government that increases our core funding to avert a total crisis #GPsAreOnYourSide

I’ve reported 18 wars over 35 years. I’ve been shot at, kidnapped, threatened, nearly raped. I’ve lost friends from Sarajevo to Syria. I thought I’d seen the worst of humanity. I was wrong. Nothing compares to Gaza — or the complicity letting it happen. #GazaGenocide #WarCrimes

We are in no way ready for AI to read our notes and make decisions. Garbage in, garbage out. Dangerous.
Just out of curiosity, I checked my health records on the NHS app, imagine my shock when I found the Cerebral Palsy wasn't listed under health conditions, also, it says my migraines ended in December 2024, they did not!

A colleague of mine, an ID physician, dropped by today to say goodbye. He is leaving medicine. I asked him, half jokingly, 'you don't want to help people anymore?'. His answer was serious: 'I learned during the pandemic that people don't want to be helped.'

Horribly sad. Bereaved son blamed by anti-vax family for her death. Bizarro land.
🧵 So my relative that called me a "mental patient" for masking, who was subsequently hospitalized for "viral pneumonia", has now passed away. In the group family email that delivered the news, they're now blaming "scared people like jason who got the jab"

Local paper picked through GP satisfaction surveys. article abt “best” & “worst” receptionists. Utterly unfair. Their willingness & ability to help reflects stresses & leadership in the practice. employment of new GPs is throttled by @wesstreeting surgeries really struggling
