Many (most?) exec boards would balk at this hard truth ("build a better plan!"); I've seen many orgs hit the 'trough of disillusionment' 18 months into a 'planned' 24 month 'transformation'(?!)... and start again! ("THIS time we'll get the plan *right*..")
