We are honored to see the Finapp probe featured at the FAO Seeds2Food Global Exhibition and the Science and Innovation Forum in Rome. The Seeds2Food Global Exhibition took place at Circo Massimo from 8 to 12 October, followed by the Science and Innovation Forum from 13 to 16 October. As the first CRNS probe to be showcased in this context, our technology was selected by FAO and IAEA to be featured at these events. This is a meaningful milestone for Finapp and an opportunity to highlight the potential of Cosmic-Ray Neutron Sensing (CRNS) for soil moisture monitoring and more sustainable water management. Ever wondered how you can measure water hidden in soil or buried under snow, without digging or drilling? Finapp's technology does it by reading cosmic rays. Cosmic rays from space constantly hit the Earth's atmosphere, creating a shower of fast neutrons that rain down toward the ground. Water is very good at trapping and slowing these neutrons. So imagine 10 fast neutrons arrive, and only 5 slow neutrons come back out. Where did the other 5 go? They got absorbed by water in the soil. Our probe counts what comes back, and the fewer neutrons it sees, the more water is down there. ☀️ In summer, this tells us how much moisture is in the soil across a wide area. No need to dig, no need to guess. ❄️ In winter, the same idea works for snow. It tells us how much water is locked away in the snowpack, which matters a lot for managing water supply later in the year. One sensor. No digging.
