$GIS Q1 organic sales flat Adj. OP −11% Margins down Couldn’t pass costs. That’s “brand strength.” Now they want to “strengthen brands.” More of the non-working medicine. Consumers don’t want a shinier logo + less for more. They want bang for the buck. Guide still op. earnings strongly down. Dividend cut next!

3/3 $MMM $WBA already lost the crown earlier $FLO $CAG milled 50% $CPB joined $GIS still in the oven Dividends paid out of nostalgia don’t survive weak volumes, margin pressure, and leverage. Financial-engineering readers are not surprised — in March 2023, I flagged it.

2/3 Concretely, the WSJ mentions 19% of dividend announcements in Q3 2026 so far were — CUTS. 1 in 5 cut their dividend. Not sure this is the best thing since sliced bread.

1/3 WSJ just noticed dividend cuts are the highest share of payout news since Covid. McKinsey: almost nobody slashes by choice. It’s need. They name $CAG $CPB Missed the other loaf: $FLO Same tape as $DGE.L What they skip: cheap-debt hangover. ZIRP balance sheets + costlier refi. FCF pays coupons, not the useless “aristocrat” or “king” sticker. 👇

old enough to remember ”the bottom is in” for $GIS after the last results in early-July. noise. Pure noise. The stock hasn’t done anything since, except being down a little. Dividend was NOT raised last time. Q1 results today.

From late 2024. Not exactly the top, left some upside on the table. But now, it’s all down.
