the reason why the midwit meme is so powerful is because what both tail outliers have in common is that they often are very cognitively in tune with their intuition or non-linear reasoning - the left end of the tail due to intuition & non-linear reasoning being a cognitive shortcut for processing - i.e. many left end may barely even have a rational mind and be fully intuition based processing - the right end of the tail due to intuition & non-linear reasoning being a cognitive compression for processing - i.e. after a large enough amount of information is obtained it begins being compressed into higher order intuitions (the idea of mastery being the "automatic knowing of the thing"), similarly also is the realization that some complexities require non-linear scaffolds to even be understood as linear reasoning alone can't crack the meaning the midwit being the primary rational mind that views the world primarily from a 'rational' perspective and reasons the world linearly "step-by-step" amusingly the midwit loves to assert it's superiority over the left end but will almost always be in denial about the nature of cognition when it comes to the right end as then suddenly "IQ isnt real" or "cognition is fluid" and so on, this phenomena in and of itself is a symptom of the rational mind which often tricks itself into believing that it can do anything if it just follows the right steps perhaps another ironic twist is that whatever the rational midwit views the left end as you can assume the right end has even stronger feelings about the midwit as due to social fatigue of midwit behavior
