Gotta hand it to these guys. Pretending to have momentum while things are not going well is an art form.
Spin: “This is what momentum looks like," House Minority Leader Ranjeev Puri, D-Canton Township, said in a statement.
Facts:
Total raised for the Cycle: House GOP: $6,681,000
House Dem: $3,765,000
Total Donors:
House GOP: almost 8,000
House Dem: less than 2,000
Cash on hand:
House GOP: $6,262,000
House Dem: $2,922,000
Total incumbents departing:
House GOP: Less than 15%
House Dem: More than 25%
No one…not donors, not the Press, not the Caucus rank-and-file, should take anything these people say seriously after a prepared comment like that. If I was a House Dem member and saw Rep Puri say THIS was momentum, I’d have to wonder - what does he consider a failure of leadership? How bad does it have to be for him to acknowledge things aren’t going well?
At least we have this live look-in at Ranjeev Puri’s political briefing for his Caucus this month:
HEAT (Hall Ethics Accountability and Transparency Plan) was the right thing by to do: end secret pork, make value for dollars the standard,
and put taxpayers back in the drivers seat for the State Budget. It is also a hit with Michigan voters. Winnie Brinks was so addicted to secret pork that she spent months trying to block it. Now Winnie is blocking the money out of politics reform so she and Jocelyn Benson can keep raising unlimited undisclosed dark money. They are the poster children for Lansing insider politicians - say one thing and do another.
PSA about what type of Governor Jocelyn Benson would be. On the left, the first part of her job, servicing Michigan motorists, isn’t going very well today. On the right, a second part of her job, maintaining and reporting Campaign Finance information, is going even worse. She is not ready to be Governor.

It's time to restore real trust in our elections.
Michigan leaders are calling for action: Pass the SAVE America Act NOW to secure election integrity and ensure only American citizens vote. 🇺🇸 WATCH ⬇️
SAVE America Act
When the issue of ghost employees was raised, Michigan House Democrats said “no such thing”. Then 2,000 ghost employees got cut out of the current budget. When the issues of Waste Fraud and Abuse were raised, Michigan House Democrats said “no such thing”. Then hundreds of millions of dollars for projects that weren’t happening at all was identified, plus pork that was going to things like a Zen Zone, a Lansing Hip Hop Academy (and many more things that should never have used taxpayer funds) was identified, and eliminated. Now watch, this Day Care story will be spun by Michigan House Democrats as “no such thing”. Guaranteed.

Value for Dollars isn’t complicated, it’s just hard when the Democrats are involved. But the relentless work to protect the taxpayers had a major victory today.
It can be done.
Another BIG WIN in court. Gov. Whitmer and MEDC just caved and agreed to return the $370 million in Democrat slush funds.
They tried to shove all this waste, fraud and abuse into slush funds, and I said no way. Our Budget committee took a stand and BLOCKED it. Then the Democrats tried to sneak it out the door illegally, and I sued them to stop that.
Now they finally agreed with my demand. That money is coming back to the state and we can find a much better use for it to protect the taxpayers and give them better value.
Thank you to the Republicans on the House Appropriations Committee for having the backbone to take a stand and put a stop to this. Their vote to block the work project designation was valid, and the money will be put into the General Fund just as the statute requires. And just like it always should have been.
I predicted this on the day we blocked all this wasteful spending back in December ⬇️
As of this moment, Craig Mauger has done more for election integrity than Garlin Gilchrist or CorruptCurtis Hertel.

Garlin Gilchrist with the big win Sunday, as predicted. But his first step towards Secretary of State starts with CorruptCurtis Hertel refusing any transparency on Garlin’s endorsement election (h/t Beth Leblanc Det News):
“The state Democratic Party declined Sunday to disclose the vote totals for its nominees at the convention...”
Republicans put them on the screen at their convention for all to see, including the media, and everyone could verify that Anthony Forlini had won.
Garlin, tell CorruptCurtis Hertel to release the results!

This is very different than when Craig Beth and Chad retweet each other. Totally different. Like, not at all the same.
So important that this got done for all of us. Many thanks to Representative Linting for being a big part of these negotiations and this final resolution. When Rylee Linting is working on legislation, things get done.
Big win for doctors and patients thanks to Speaker @RepMattHall and Rep. Rylee Linting.
The ultimate dealmaker delivers again.
Close the revolving door of Legislator->Lobbyist!!! Sam Singh retention bill came up in conversation multiple times, but the State Senate failed to act. Now word is out that he is leaving the State Senate at the end of the year to become a lobbyist. Many were hoping he stayed, but after the big endorsement for Darrin Camilleri for Democrat Leader, it must have been too much for Sam. The silver lining? Maybe now Winnie Brinks will move the House Republican package that eliminates the revolving door of legislator to lobbyist. It’s certainly a common sense solution to anyone who’s not a politician!
Bingo! Or is it Bingo?
