Travelling through #StandedgeTunnel was a inspiring experience yesterday, learning about the endeavours of navvies and engineers during its tortuous 17-year construction, from 1794 to 1811. If you get the chance, do support the @CanalRiverTrust by taking the underground tour.

The three-mile #StandedgeTunnel follows a meandering course due to surveying and construction failings. Here, a 26ft horizontal error is corrected! But the structure is breath-taking. If you get the chance, do take the tour offered by @CanalRiverTrust. A truly unique experience.

The door to the repurposing of @Rhondda_Tunnel finally looks like being unlocked, albeit with some uncertainty due to @transportgovuk insistence on a phased transfer of ownership to Railway Paths. Well done to @RhonddaBryant for his persistence in driving this matter forward.
