🎶 Funding Available for Drumquin and Killen Community Groups
Pride of the Derg Flute Band was among the local organisations supported through the Slieveglass Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund. A £1,000 grant helped the Castlederg-based band deliver its ‘Off the Streets 2026’ campaign, providing free flute and drumming tuition to 30 children of school age.
The project gave young people the opportunity to develop new skills, discover traditional music and connect with Ulster-Scots heritage.
The latest round of the Cornavarrow Slieveglass Wind Farm Fund is now open for applications from community organisations in the Drumquin and Killen areas.
The Fund supports projects within 5km of either the Cornavarrow or Slieveglass Wind Farms, with funding available for a wide range of local projects and activities.
If your organisation has an idea that could benefit the local community, we would encourage you to consider applying.
📅 Applications close at 12 noon on Friday 13 November 2026.

🌱 Swipe to the end to meet our newest garden visitor 🐸
We’ve had a great start to the Fermanagh Trust’s Winter Gardening & Sustainable Home Growing workshop series at Daisy Hill House & Gardens, Ballyconnell.
The first sessions have been hands-on, with participants learning how to clear and prepare growing spaces for winter, which crops are suitable for this stage of the growing season and how to sow seeds for future harvests.
Participants also explored the Square Foot Gardening method, discovering practical ways to maximise growing space and make the most of smaller areas. 🌿
Each session finished with a seed swap and harvest share, giving participants the opportunity to share seeds they have saved, swap with other growers and showcase some of their home-grown produce.
The next session will focus on preserving the harvest, exploring simple and practical methods including freezing, pickling and fermentation. The session will look at how to make the most of home-grown produce, reduce food waste and enjoy the harvest beyond the growing season. 🍎
It’s been a great start to the series at Daisy Hill, and we’re looking forward to seeing what everyone grows next.

👏 Celebrating volunteering across Fermanagh and Omagh
It was wonderful to come together for the Investing in Community Volunteers Volunteer Recognition, Reward and Recruitment Event, to celebrate the incredible contribution volunteers make across our communities.
The evening was an opportunity to say thank you to those who give their time, skills and energy to support others, strengthen community organisations and bring people together.
We were also delighted to recognise the achievements of individuals who have completed training and accredited learning through the ICV Programme, including young people who received certificates for a course delivered by YouthAction Northern Ireland
The event also included a volunteer recruitment fair, with local organisations showcasing the many ways people can get involved and make a difference.
As lead partner for the ICV Programme, Fermanagh Trust was delighted to be part of an evening celebrating the people who help make our communities stronger, more connected and welcoming.
Thank you to Volunteer Now for organising the event and to everyone who continues to give their time through volunteering.

As part of the evaluation of Phase 1 of the Investing in Community Volunteers Programme, we recently invited everyone who has taken part in the programme to complete a short survey and share their experiences and feedback.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond. Your feedback will help us demonstrate the impact of the programme to our funders and inform future volunteering opportunities.
We are delighted to announce that Terry Magee, Chair of ARC Healthy Living Centre in Irvinestown, has been selected as our survey prize winner, receiving a £50 voucher, along with a £250 donation to the ARC Summer Scheme.
Today, Sonya Johnston, Deputy Director of Fermanagh Trust, had the pleasure of presenting Terry with her cheque at ARC Healthy Living Centre’s celebration event, where she also got to see first-hand the fantastic work of their Peer Mentors who ran this year's ARC Summer Scheme. Many of the young people involved have availed of the Investing in Community Volunteers online learning platform.
This is a brilliant example of young people stepping up, volunteering, developing leadership skills and making a real difference in their communities. It is a shining example of successful succession planning and the power of a “grow your own” approach.

• 45+ short courses
