I’m hearing from friends in Alberta that today is actually hitting folks pretty hard. Not the vote to remain, which was a relief, but the other 9 questions.
It’s becoming clear that the feeling of unity suggested by the referendum result is undercut by majority support for questions which feature policies that scapegoat migrants.
But no amount of punching down by Danielle Smith will fix Alberta’s health care, public education or cost-of-living crises. These are the consequences of years of underfunding, not of newcomers trying to build a life in that beautiful province.
Albertans deserve real solutions to the crises they face, not scapegoating that divides us and fuels prejudice. Right now, all Canadians have an opportunity to reject this and say: we stand with migrants facing the brunt of this cynical, negative politics.
A united Canada must mean more than just rejecting separation. It must mean actually standing up for all of us — building a movement across our differences to make this a country where everyone can live a life of dignity, equality and belonging.

More than a century ago, Canadian soldiers from across the country stood shoulder to shoulder to achieve a decisive victory at Vimy Ridge – one that came at a profound cost.
Today, their legacy endures. It reminds us that unity must be built and that freedom must be defended.

We have a robust 75-year-old defense agreement with Denmark that gives us exclusive and full military access to Greenland for our security. During the Cold War we had 50 bases there; today, we have 1. Yet, today, we need to invade it for our own security? Makes no sense. If it was so vital, we'd have more than a single base there.

Jill and I are disgusted by the attack on the Shapiro family and their home during the first night of Passover. We are relieved that they are safe and grateful to the first responders. There is no place for this type of evil in America, and as I told the Governor yesterday, we must stand united against hatred and violence.

What a disgraceful message and Marc you should retract this asap. Heritage and religion have nothing to do with loyalty to Canada and this spreads hate and suspicion. Really really disturbing to see this. Would you say the same about Irish or French or British folks?
The @liberal_party of Canada governs with 160 Members of Parliament:
10 are Chinese;
15 are Sikh
12 are Muslim
4 more are from India not Sikh
6 Jews
1 Argentine
That’s 48 MPs with questionable loyalty to Canada in the Liberal government.

HOW DARE YOU @GretaThunberg. How DARE you call for ethnically cleansing the Jewish people from our ancestral land?? You know nothing. No history, no reality, no truth. So I have this to say to you.
Israel is not a colonialist state – it’s a refugee state which was literally decolonized from Britain.
The majority of Israeli Jews are people of color, whose families were ethnically cleansed from other parts of the Middle East.
Throughout history, the only indigenous sovereign entities to exist in the land have been Jewish states.
Jews originate from the land, derive our religion and our practices from it and despite centuries of exile and displacement have always kept an unbroken presence there.
And you Greta Thunberg, are chanting “crush Zionism” on the streets of Sweden.
Zionism is the Jewish people exercising our right to self-determination in some parts of our only historic, ancestral and indigenous homeland.
Hamas showed us on October 7 what “crushing Zionism” looks like and you want to cheer that on Greta?
Greta Thunberg, if I can borrow your famous phrase, “how dare you!”
But this is how antisemitism works – Find what is most evil to you, and blame it on the Jews, or today - on the Jewish state.
I can understand that younger generations in western societies feel guilty about the evils of colonialism.
But Israel’s history is not your history, and whatever guilt you feel, supporting the massacre of Jews in their ancestral land will not wash away the sins of your fathers. When your ancestors were colonizing the world, my ancestors were being slaughtered by Cossacks.
We were dreaming – next year in Jerusalem – of building a life raft in our homeland. We fled genocidal violence in Europe. We were ethnically cleansed from Arab countries all over the Middle East. And we built a liberal, democratic Jewish state. That is not a colonial enterprise.
Zionism is not a colonial enterprise – Zionism is the decolonization movement of the Jewish people.
And to anyone who cannot accept our presence or who slanders Israel as something it is not, we are here to say: “how dare you.”

This wasn't spray painted on the Israeli consulate. This was spray painted on the Jewish Cultural Center.
Why? Because this is about the hatred of Jews.
This can't be tolerated by any level of government. Arrests must be made.

When you start to believe your own propaganda… you end up sounding like a movie trailer.
Legacy media journos are waging an all-out war against the Conservative Party.
Mocking its leaders (past & present), petty name-calling, partisan mud-slinging and cheering on attacks.
They're simultaneously playing the victim (a powerful politician picking on a poor powerless journalist!) while also flexing their might (Poilievre will LOSE the election if he keeps disrespecting us!)
All the while, Trudeau just upped the ante of taxpayer money going to the media bailout fund (we're now at, what, $750M to newspapers & $1.2B annually to CBC).
Now get ready for a parade of nauseating thinkpieces about how wrong Poilievre was and how right these high-minded journos are.
Their showing us their true colours, they're showing us how far they're willing to go to protect their man, and they're showing us how much they remain in lockstep with each other.
It's okay for them to launch mean-spirited and untrue attacks on you. It's okay for them to bend and twist the truth to create a narrative that paints you in a negative light. It's not okay for you to notice, and heaven forbid you defend yourself.
