Spent the week knocking out a few sod jobs on green banks. 4, 12 and 18 all got face lifts and turned out great! Over the years contamination becomes an issue so it’s nice to get new varieties of pure bluegrass established. More to come in the coming weeks as well!
Putting the bow on aerification today. Used 3/4” solids and went 3” in depth. Cups, double rolling and topping off a few open holes with sand before opening. Team did great and Blakey is enjoying this cool day much more than yesterday. Fall has arrived 🍂 🍁
Not sure on the exact amount since the rain gauge overflowed, but well over 6” of rain. This will put us as the wettest September ever. If not the most, 2nd. We will spend the day back pack blowing so we can try to get some mowers out tomorrow. Sun is on the way (hopefully)!
Another 1.6” of rain this morning on an already saturated course. Makes it impossible to get anything done. Hoping we dodge the storms this evening, but odds are not in our favor.
Nearly 5.5” of rain (more just getting into Omaha now too) since Monday! Small but mighty crew is out mowing bunkers this morning. Will have a lot of bunker repair (washouts) to tend to tomorrow but doing what we can!
After 13+ years with us, Austen is moving to Des Moines for the next chapter of his life and career. He has been instrumental in helping us get the property to where it’s at today. He will be missed but beyond grateful for his commitment and loyalty for all these years! 😢
Hasn’t been very enjoyable working in the heat, but the team shows up everyday and does what they can. I’d say they’re doing a damn good job! Safe to say we are all ready for the weather to break and it’s time to enjoy some crisp mornings.
Dew dragging, rough mowing and changing socks 3x/day is the daily agenda right now. We can’t handle anymore rain, so hoping we can start to firm back up over the next few days.
Robotic unit is smarter than I thought and decided to take shelter this morning from the storms! 🌧️ ☔️ 1.5” this morning and thankfully missed out on the high winds
Touch over 2” of rain over night with more possibly on the way. One extreme to the other! Team is hard at work venting greens, detailing bunkers and working on irrigation while we can shut down the system.
Bill made a rendering of Blakely with his 3D printer. I’d say he did a darn good job! Man of many talents!
Team is killing it as we prep for our member/guest! Thanks to Lizzy for showing up early with us and putting this video together!
Nice to have some time this morning to clean up from the firework show last night and sneaking in a topdress before the noon outing. Funfest prep is underway.
Wrapped up the project right of #3 today. This spring we added 3 new irrigation heads, cut out an old ‘piss’ elm, graded and tilled the area and just layed 2500 sq ft of sod. Turned out great! – at Omaha, NE
Giving the ceora robotic unit a trial run on fwys for the next few weeks. It’ll start it on 2/11 fwy and once we see what it can do, we’ll add in more holes. This will automatically adjust height and mow the step-cut once it completes the fwy. Be on the lookout!
New one man dew drag. Took 3 minutes to drag #3. Going to be a nice little tool this summer! – at Omaha, NE
Juneteenth is going to be a busy one and course prep is underway! I know that tee marker alignment has been an issue, so we made an alignment tool to help eradicate the issue. It will be used daily and will do the trick. Training never stops. – at Omaha, NE
Fortunate to have such a dedicated and hard working team. All have dug in and done all that’s asked of them and then some. Thank you to my entire team for making FCO what it is on a daily basis! 👏
