Hurricane Carol struck on this date in 1954. Carol was the last major hurricane to make landfall in Connecticut.
The storm devastated the eastern part of the state and Rhode Island with sustained winds of 115 mph.

⚡️ Most of Connecticut is now in a Level 2/5 risk for severe weather Saturday.
⛈️ Scattered severe storms are possible, mainly during the evening.
💨 Damaging winds are the primary threat, but 🌪️ an isolated tornado can't be ruled out.

A concerning signal for excessive rainfall from eastern Pennsylvania into Connecticut.
Some localized spots could pick up 10" which would lead to a flash flood risk.
Too soon to say where exactly the axis of heaviest rain sets up. Stay tuned.
