Though the outer decay, the inner, the thing that trusts in the perfect creative life, grows stronger — does it not? God will be better to us than we think, however expectant we be…

Look, I know there’s not a lot of low-hanging fruit out there these days for rival fans. But “Michigan thought it was going to have the largest class in NFL Draft history and only ended up having the third largest class in NFL Draft history” isn’t really the dunk you think it is.

Beware of people like this who claim to know exactly what biblical Christianity is. They are self righteous, self deceivers, people who love to sow discord. The word “biblical” has merely become a weapon for the self-righteous at this point.
Replying to @LiamNoeman
Yes, tons. Whoever isn't teaching biblical Christianity needs to be called out because they're lying and deceiving people.

Being a self-proclaimed “Bible teacher” means literally nothing. The text is used to weaponize cultural wars, simplistic propaganda, transactionalism, retributitive “justice” and humanistic appeals to holiness - all of which is abstract American folk religion that fails to see the Father’s redemptive heart displayed in the Son’s vicarious humanity and actualized in the transformative love of Holy Spirit. Truth is a Person. Grace is a scandal. Humanity is destined for a relationality far deeper than politics, moral behavior and dead scholasticism.

Faith is a recognition of God’s goodness; it does not make Him good. God does not become Christlike only for those who believe. Jesus did not change God’s character: Jesus is God’s character.

Faith doesn’t bring you into Christ. Christ brings you into faith. Faith is trusting the fact of our union. The facts are the facts whether we believe it or not: by the singular incarnation of the Son, the cosmos has become the body of God. “Christ is all and in all.”

It used to be that Christianity was something more than a way to avoid some imagined fate like this and to attain unimaginable comfort and safety; to the extent the notion of hell was wielded, it was wielded so as to try to get the powerful to treat the powerless better—which was manipulative, perhaps, but not terrible. Since then, however, hell has become a means to scare common folk, to get them in line; to leave them ashamed of oh so many ways they try to eek out a life while being ground down by the turning cold gears of this world.

Saved by faith alone or faith plus works? Neither. This is an asinine Medieval Western construct of Catholic vs. Protestant based on getting “saved” from God Himself. The early church didn’t even think in such categories (nor do the Orthodox). I don’t identify with either camp, because Salvation is a Person (not a commodity given or withheld). But if works are viewed as an insurance policy, then faith itself is negated. And if faith is the one legal “surcharge” for salvation, it ceases to recognize our rescue from sin and death by Jesus’ own faithfulness. Good thing we need not rely on our own fickle faith. Inside of you is a True Believer.
