Things got western in our part of Missouri last night. Storms brought 60 to 80 mph winds, with isolated reports near 90 mph. Thankfully, most corn was harvested, but what was still standing and in the storm's path is flat today.
A grain bin at a local elevator was crushed, adding to storage challenges at the height of harvest. The storm hit fast, and there's damage all over Ray and Carroll County today.

I’ve always admired this operation. Saw them doing morning maintenance on my way north and had to stop in to meet them.
He said their newest tractor is a 40 series Deere. They also have a 6620 that stays in corn that their dad runs. I won’t share the number of acres he told me they cover, but it’s very impressive for the size of fleet they run.

I doubt they stress when beans are $9 and corn is $4!

A trucking company in Texas got sued, and they should be, by the feds for refusing to hire drivers over 65 because their insurance wouldn’t cover them. So the insurance company is telling me a 23 year old who got his CDL last month is a safer bet than a guy who’s seen every kind of weather and every kind of idiot on the road. Experience used to count for something in this business.
