In our recent PNAS work, we showed that a local, biologically plausible learning rule can be designed so that both the neural network and the learning rule itself are "learned." More importantly, this rule always emerges to behave like a generalized gradient descent. arxiv.org/abs/2412.20018v2

(1/9) Same rewards. Less domain randomization. Higher jumps. Stable landings. Just by improving the actuator model. Introducing Contact-UAN: a residual world model for humanoids, learned from proprioception. No torque sensing or motion capture. Project website: contact-uan.csail.mit.edu.

today, I was at Build-a-Claw Berlin by @NVIDIA. here’s the whole thing in 90 seconds: > Hermes/OpenClaw agents everywhere > many personal agent use cases > some robotic simulations and of course Reachy Mini and Microduck by @huggingface doing whatever they did. thanks Nvidia for the invite.

The past few weeks have been busy! We signed a new agreement with Starcloud in Paris, published research on the economic impact of solar storms that caught the attention of @payloadspace and @NASA, and presented our lunar instruments at LSIC! missionspace.substack.com/p/…

Humanoids can learn new skills by tracking high-quality reference motions, which today come from humans through motion capture or video. Routing every reference through a human proxy limits scalability and compounds reconstruction errors with the embodiment gap. KinoGen synthesizes loco-manipulation references directly for the target robot through kinematically grounded video generation. 🧵 (1/7)

Terence Tao warns that the race to AGI is becoming toxic, and OpenAI’s massive paper dump wiped out junior research projects overnight. Some parts of his most recent interview: “They were willing to toss understanding to the side so that they could prove more theorems, get more press releases [...] and test their latest toys. These AIs are depleting our pool of questions and not replenishing them with anything new. only looked at about 10 of the 300 odd papers. I mean, so this is part of the thing. There's just so many to look at. [...] There's a whole bunch which are still incomprehensible. And no one's really gone through them, and one or two even have some errors and [were] retracted. So we don't have a clear picture of what's going on. And no one from OpenAI is helping us. As far as they're concerned, they're done. [...] We have this pile of stuff to go through which we didn't ask for, but we have it anyway. And there will be some good stuff in there and some rubbish, but we don't know what the percentages are yet.”

Lunar Outpost's power technology is built to establish the Moon's first power grid. Through the development of the Pegasus and Eagle Lunar Terrain Vehicles, our team has built a suite of high voltage power systems that are one-to-one transferable to a lunar power grid. We have applied this expertise to develop Vertical Solar Array Technology (VSAT) and lunar electrical grid-forming elements, extending spaceflight-proven rover technologies into lunar power infrastructure. Lunar Outpost's power generation, management, and distribution technology enables the development of America's Moon Base via a shared power network to support habitats, communications, resource processing, and future expansion.
