If you buy a digital product like a game, the rights holder should be able to allow portability of that licence between other store fronts where the game is also sold. If you buy a game on steam that's sold on Epic, you can import that licence into the epic launcher, and vice versa.
Tim Sweeny has set a world record for pissing gamers off with his attempts to compete with Steam which massively muddies the conversation, but it's very true that Valve have a dominant market position and clearly cannot realistically be competed with. They place a giant suck on the industry. Not that they aren't entitled to a cut, and not even to say that their product isn't great, but there's zero competitive pressure on the 30% cut percentage because gamers love going to one interface that they're used to and seeing their giant collection they've built over years. As soon as that becomes something they truly own rather than something they rent from Steam is the day that Valve actually have to compete again.
This is squarely the sort of regulation the EU is interested in so it's not out of the realm of possibility. I think the stop killing games movement is kinda misguided for other reasons but it's a good model for advancing the rights of consumers of products that are digitally owned. This sort of solution is also about owning your games again, which is easy to get behind.
Steam does have a massive lead in user trust so I don't think the result would be instant. But if Epic games or GOG actually start to get a reputation for being a good user experience and gamers can actually bring over a majority of their library, some people might consider using store fronts especially if they have a reputation for better supporting developers with a more fair cut.
gamers rise up
Every post about @t3dotcodes is just “wow the person who made this actually uses it”
i downloaded t3code and bought a second claude max subscription . here's my impressions
- it has the best and smoothest setup for remote and multi-computer / tailscale linking and threads i've ever seen. significantly better than any first party app. even with codex selecting a remote is fiddly and confusing as fuck and it's usually insanely laggy and at some point you run into a weird nightmare where you need to have a specifically named github repo for a project to span multiple machines??? it's all just shockingly bad. t3code was clearly built by ppl who just actually have like four computers sitting around they want to use simultaneously, exactly as i do and seemingly unlike any lab employees. it Just Works, and it also (shockingly!!) just works incredibly smoothly on mobile as well!! assuming of course you have tailscale
- similar situation for cross agent communication. i've fucked around with this and been running my own hacked together system for codex and claude code to use each others native messaging tools to communicate, and it's always a little janky. t3 basically just gets this right, every provider has all their usual tools and isn't forced into some weird fucked up stripped down harness, but they also understand that they're running in t3 and have quite reliable and well designed ways to start threads of any available model type and communicate and query between them. it's smooth as shit
- however all of this beautiful smoothness immediately gets fucking blown to bits when you realize that while you can connect ur machines and start and read and write cross provider threads from anywhere no problem.... threads on different machines can't contact each other at all. literally zero route. i was so dumbfounded by this i didn't believe it for about 30 minutes and just tried to get claude to tell me what part of setup id missed or what setting i hadn't toggled. but no, there really is no support. it appears to be actively in the works! they have a PR chain up on github. but this really took me out of my warm initial glow lol. luckily, it is open source, so i ended up solving this just by letting claude finish this feature locally , and it didn't take too long.
- the ui and ux is snappy as fuck. it clearly does not appear vibecoded, care has obviously gone into this experience. there are opinionated design choices and features.
- unfortunately, i kinda hate the opinions. i respect where they're coming from but the overall look and feel of the app is not for me, the sidebar especially is a fucking painful cacophony with no good way to organize that i could find, and the whole "settling" concept is something for people who use agents in a very different way than me
- the multi sub support is fucking amazing tho. i basically would not have considered bothering if i had to wrangle it just via claude code, but with t3 again it was extremely intuitive to set up and use afterwards
- after using it for about half a day i realized i was basically losing my mind looking at it, and had been losing my mind looking at claude code prior . so i finally gave in , decided opus 5.5 was good enough for this not to be completely retarded, and just started building my own agent harness using t3 as the backend. i have of course done this before and given up due to it being a massive nerd snipe waste of time. but t3 is a good enough base and coding models are fast enough at this now i think we might be juuuuuuust over the threshold
anyway props to theo and team, they clearly care and have figured a bunch of annoying shit out, even if at the end of the day their precise choices aren't for me
Just spent the morning with my phone off instead of scrolling first thing and I regret to inform you all that I feel fantastic.
I registered to vote today and I only needed to make one (1) support call to the realme help desk ama.
I've been using /wayfinder to refine my product roadmap for the next 6 months or so.
The amount of clarity it's brought to what I want to do (IN JUST ONE AFTERNOON???!?) is insane.
I've never been good at convering vague ideas -> plans and now it's so easy.
@mattpocockuk
Can’t imagine the DoD is super happy with their decision to cease doing business with the developers of the new AI cyber super weapon company right about now.
My guess is the Defence Production Act is about to be on the table again. No way they let the cyber nuke stay private.
Every time @prisma posts about their fancy new update coming soon™ it just makes me realize that I could have been on @DrizzleORM the whole time and would be much happier.
I'm guessing that in a different world this would have just been opus 5 but the new tier will be used to justify the price increases that we are all dreading.
Not even saying there's something wrong with that but I'm expecting a lot of us will be priced out of this new model and the gap will begin to grow.
claude code (especially subagents) keeps finding new and exciting ways to try and look at the base repo rather than the current worktree
@trq212
if you told me this was some high art for rich people I would legitimately not be able to tell
what would be your reaction in this situation?😭😂
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This has been used by multiple accounts for engagement farming, clearly against X rules

This would be devastating to my strategy of taking like a dumb airhead who’s gonna let the big strong Claude carry me through this scary feature I’m tryna build 🤭
