What evil lurks here? I think a banshee with the wailing of the wind. Or willow-wisps luring unsuspecting sailors to their doom.

Sometimes simple maps can be effective. Here a network of tunnels in a shattered glacier. Look in the dark ice - and you’ll see lines of light vanishing into the depths. And the ice has blues, turquoise, and purples. How you fill in the rest of the map matters.

How to use features to imply scale. I changed my mountain and forest styles completely on this map to imply the scale of the world. And removed all line art. I didn’t illustrate mountains. I illustrated mountain ranges.

Tutorial Thread - How To Draw Simple Treeson a Middle Earth Style Map. It’s really easy to draw trees on a map and make them look pretty. It’s also really easy to get close, decide they look rubbish, and stop. Here’s a quick method for drawing a Middle Earth style forest.
