I was a senate staffer. I couldn’t imagine being a staffer for @SenatorSlotkin
Platner had a Nazi tattoo. And Elissa was fine. Peltola called her staffers faggot and N word in anger, and Elissa is fine. El-Sayed won’t disavow the muslim freaking brotherhood, and Elissa is fine.
But if you have an R next to your name, Elissa will use government to come after you. Not the Nazi. Not the racist & homophobe. Not the muslim terrorist. The Republican. That’s how low she’s sunk just 2 years on the job. She’s literally becoming Gollum as evil consumes her.
I’d be ashamed to work for such a vile person.
ON UCHICAGO CAMPUS: U.S. Senator from Michigan Elissa Slotkin hopes planned political prosecutions of republican leaders will scare young conservatives from getting involved in politics.

Ed Blum says racial preferences in college admissions have gone “underground” after SFFA
He’s calling for mandatory public disclosure of admissions data:
“This would include standardized test scores, GPAs, family income, Pell Grant eligibility, AP coursework, broken down by race & ethnicity”

I don’t know if young people appreciate that it used to be just your few anarchist friends with daddy issues who said shit like this. Now it’s like half the professional managerial class

Everyone knows that the burning of European cities is the product of two related factors: Unassimilated mass migration and three decades of economic stagnation. In other words, the destruction of Europe is the product of a set of policy choices about immigration and economics that were ratified by European voters at the ballot box. Socialism was a choice. Europe was a choice. Mass low-skilled immigration was a choice. The destructive consequences of those choices are plain.
America is now confronted by a similar set of choices:
—Mass migration of unskilled people who hate the West vrs. encouraging immigrants with needed skills and crafts who embrace Western liberal values.
—Sectarianism and group preferences becoming more embedded in the law and institutions vrs. a legal order that promotes individualism and merit-based hiring.
—More government-mandated bureaucracy vrs. using new technology to de-bureaucratize our institutions and our economy.
—Embracing centralized control and redistribution vs. a market-oriented economy that puts a premium on innovation and growth.
—Teaching our children that our country is generally a force for evil rather than a force for good.
The consequences for Europe of fifty years of well-meaning policy choices approved of by generations of experts are plainly disastrous and probably irreversible. We still have time to choose our own fate and renew the social contract on which this country was founded. But only if we are willing to stop making excuses or blaming others and learn from what is happening in front of our eyes.
There is a difference between saying she is far left and saying that the far left, and its institutional capture of academia, created this. The first might be false but the second is true.

"Conservatism starts from a sentiment that all mature people can readily share: the sentiment that good things are easily destroyed, but not easily created. This is especially true of the good things that come to us as collective assets: peace, freedom, law, civility, public spirit, the security of property, and family life, in all of which we depend on the cooperation of others while having no means singlehandedly to obtain it. In respect of such things, the work of destruction is quick, easy, and exhilarating; the work of creation slow, laborious, and dull." How to Be a Conservative

I’m very much still thinking of how pivotal 2016-2020 years were. Linda Sarsour was the face of the women’s march, invited to headline the largest Muslim American conference in North America with Mehdi Hasan, working for AOC, Bernie Sanders, backed by CAIR funds, leading My Muslim Vote -backing Abdul El Sayed in his first run for governor, and here she is being very honest about the strategy.
When we raised the alarm on these coalitions forming around the Democratic Party, many dismissed it’s extremism, and now we’re watching the fruit of their labor. Jews are no longer humanized.
It was always one-off cultural relativism, where American/Western culture alone was open to criticism.

Perhaps there are reasons of style policy involved, but reading New York Times coverage of Dr. El-Sayed, and remembering Times 2016 coverage of renowned brain surgeon Ben Carson makes you wonder: Did Carson ever get an MD?

I'd like to know when Obama believed Israel had the moral high ground. Of course he's never thought that and this is more of his BS concern-trolling and dishonesty.

Moral philosophers try to gatekeep this hack, but you can just add the word ‘ethical’ to things and it magically turns wrong actions into right actions. Some notable examples:
Ethical Egoism
Ethical Non-Monogamy
Ethical Continental Philosophy
If you're not in it, you have no idea how bad it is.
An overlooked way that college has become "woke" is through internal threats to profs' employment. The way it happened to me and others is that committees reporting on your progress to tenure warn that you haven't incorporated enough rad fem / CRT / decolonial / etc. perspectives, and that a successful tenure application in a year or two will need to have remedied this "omission." It's nothing less than a threat that you'll lose your job if you don't go woke. I suspect many profs who don't wish to go woke do so under the force of this coercion.
It's often fairly subtle. Here's what I was told in 2019:
"Advisory Council...felt that your narrative could be strengthened by a more thorough engagement with the discipline-wide conversation about diversity in the study of the classics. We would advise you to connect more deeply to the debates in the field and to locate your approach with respect to these pedagogical trends related to diversity in the classics classroom, which grapples with the Western heritage narrative and the balance of primary and secondary source authors with which students become acquainted."
Presumably, "grapple with the Western heritage narrative" meant "start teaching that the West is oppressive" and "secondary source authors" meant the sort of tendentious ephemera by the likes of Sarah Bond and Donna Zuckerberg that was then being lauded in my field. I resisted, prepared to stand on my academic freedom, and came through unscathed, but I'll confess I felt the force of the threat, and I don't blame others if they've caved out of a desire to keep their jobs.

Rachel Ford isn't the only symphony CEO in Tennessee keeping me from working, there's also Susan Caminez of the Chattanooga Symphony who wouldn't even let me audition last fall:
After I won Knoxville's Principal Clarinet audition and they refused to hire me I applied for the same position in Chattanooga, a per-service gig paying $28k/year if I did all the work. When I applied I disclosed what happened in Knoxville and Susan rejected my application with the classic "We wish you the best in the future."
This is why suing Knoxville is necessary: Their determination not to hire me damaged my reputation so thoroughly I appear to have no "future" as a symphony musician. All because I wouldn't bend to DEI in Nashville in 2020 – once the dominoes start falling, they're hard to stop.
My symphony career may be over but the DEI era is not, means our choices are beat it back now or leave our kids with a wasteland. No-brainer for me.
