In regards to Chew, "being an asshole" isn't really the best way to frame the position artists prefer to take- which is a lot like mixing up Asocial with ANTIsocial. It's a strategic distanced approach to avoid sending the wrong message to strangers.

To be fair some people may attempt to be ANTIsocial, proverbially pissing in people's shoes to create that distance. In reality it just causes the situation everyone wants to avoid: parasocial ENEMIES. just felt like yappin.

social boundries are one of those things you can logic at people as much as you want but if they lack the intution they'll never really get it. Because of these people, no amount of abstaining from interaction will totally eliminate parasocial behaviors.

What makes our current environment kind of twisted is that the subset of completely insane individuals are champing at the bit for their victim of interest to affirm whatever political beliefs they obsess with and they will hallucinate it and then attempt to apply them to you.
