If you're unsure about how to refer to someone with cancer, it's always best to ask them directly. They can tell you what language they prefer. Some dislike the terms “warrior” or “fighter” while others embrace it. It’s an easy thing to ask about and can really make a difference.

Everyone says “be positive” and “keep going” and “don’t give up”.
But it is ok to give up for a little while. It is ok to lay in bed and cry and rage and wallow in hopelessness sometimes.
And then try again tomorrow or next Tuesday.
