Anyone else think the excellent new @fontainesdublin album traverses them from the realm of @joydivision into @neworder land?

Banning resale or putting a cap has no effect on face value prices. If anything it drives face value higher than ever and gives no alternatives to buy elsewhere. Thanks Toronto for proving the point, should be easy to show every politician in the US why this model doesn’t work.
Something legitimately awful is happening with @TicketmasterCA ticket prices in Canada. Like this is so out of control. Standard admission. Not floor. Not vip. Not resale. Standard. Admission. A few weeks ago those same smashing pumpkins tickets were hundreds less.

Look into how ticketing and promoting works Robin. They don't just pull a ticket price out of their arse. It's based on data, a lot of data! What was demand for the arena tour & average spend last year now what is it for a one off small show? Ergo what can we charge for a stadium

We stopped liaising with anti tout group campaigners long ago because we found evidence that they were corrupt. They are disguised as helping the fans but when you look at that side of the industry, fans must surely be asking questions as to why ticket buying is like it is. Gouge pricing, surge pricing, drip feeding and yet even with touts blocked out of specific events it makes no difference to fans, like in Ireland where secondary ticketing is outlawed. Is it suddenly very cheap to go to events over there, it most certainly is not. Shockingly to us @raye knew what a “scalper” was. This typically American term being used by a Croydon lass was in particularly disingenuous. It is like the propaganda peddled by much of the mainstream media now which is government controlled, you cannot believe a word of it anymore. Sadly this is the world we live in today, a low trust society and buying tickets typifies that, and it comes from the root and branch structure of the official ticketing market. You thought Manchester City was bad, well imagine an independent investigation into the primary ticketing market and it will make that seem like the snowflake before an avalanche.

Rumour has it that the @raye ticketing debacle was all orchestrated by the promoters so that they can gauge demand and pricing for an upcoming stadium tour announcement. All organised with anti ticket touting groups who were engaged quicker than a Usain Bolt 100 metre sprint getting them on the news channels to blow it all out of proportion. You would never bet against all that with this evil cabal of rich greedy promoters that operate at the top of the industry. It is so easy to avoid these incidents happening, you got to ask yourself how and why?!

Good luck @raye with going through those registrations manually but the problem is going to be that they are all unique because that’s how bots work. They get round all systems through having unique details for every single account. #stopthebots
Singer Raye has spoken out over AI bots after there were 1.8 million sign-ups for her performance at the Royal Albert Hall. Lead Campaigner at The FanFair Alliance, Adam Webb, shares his reaction with @skysarahjane. ⬇️ 🇬🇧 The UK Tonight: youtube.com/watch?v=B1Bt3jWt…

First time we have ever seen this - #stopthebots - Poor @RoyalAlbertHall and @raye . These sneaker kids acting illegally are really compounding the organic AI bot traffic tenfold.

LIVE NATION FRANCE Live Nation is taking over Paris La Défense Arena. France’s competition authority was already reviewing the deal under merger-control law, basically antitrust review. Then France changed the merger thresholds. Now this Live Nation acquisition no longer has to go through mandatory merger review, so Live Nation pulled the filing. And this arena already has a serious public money history. The Hauts-de-Seine government bought about €167 MILLION in office space tied to the project, and that public purchase helped make the arena financing possible. So now Live Nation is moving in on an arena that already had major public money behind it, while the merger review that was already happening is no longer required because the thresholds changed. France says the competition authority is still “keeping an eye on it.” Apparently that’s what merger review is now? @Autorite_concurrence are you watching what’s happening in the United States and right next door in the UK, where Parliament has raised serious concerns about Live Nation, market dominance and a “climate of fear” in live music? @mlexclusive @LiveNation mlex.com/mlex/articles/25318…

Blue Dot Fever is very very real. Ticketmaster and LiveNation monopoly is the single biggest destructive force to our entertainment industry. Keep highlighting it and keeping the evidence, there will be a day of reckoning.
I think 2027 could be a crossroads for live entertainment. Artists/promoters have pushed face-value prices to unsustainable levels, then blame ticket brokers for the prices they have full control of. Meanwhile, Ticketmaster is pushing biometric verification while routinely blocking actual fans from buying tickets. Live Nation monopoly is still stronger than ever. And here’s the bigger issue: a huge portion of the 2027 touring calendar appears to be artists fans have already seen. There will absolutely be massive tours with insane demand. But for the majority of 2nd-tier and lower acts? I think 2027 could be a bloodbath. “Blue dot fever” is real. When fans open Ticketmaster and see thousands of unsold seats sitting there, they’re going to ask themselves: “Why would I pay $200+ to see this?” At current face values, that problem is about to get MUCH worse. #paystowait

Live Nation President Joe Berchtold, mocking competitors who objected to the DOJ settlement: “We would like you to cripple them more so that we can have an easier time competing.” Joe, for 16 years, independent promoters and regulators have accused Live Nation and Ticketmaster of using their power to cripple competition. Now competitors object to your DOJ settlement and suddenly YOU’RE worried about making it easier to compete? That’s like Godzilla leveling the whole city, then filing a noise complaint against the survivors. Joe, you’ve been drinking too much of @Michael_Rapino Kool-Aid THE GREAT HYPOCRISY continues. @LiveNation
