I say, old chap, the natives are terribly restless today, what what, aren't they. Good Lord. We only want to help them.
After the Six Day War, Syrian regime trumpeted victory, based on the claim that the true goal of Israel was not capture of a few kilometers of land, but getting rid of the glorious progressive Syrian regime trumpeted.
Expect Iranian regime to repeat the claim shortly.

Since yesterday, we’ve been waiting for the @UN to condemn the murder of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s aid workers by Hamas.
These were Palestinians.
These were humanitarian workers.
But as far as the UN is concerned, they didn’t belong to the “right” kind of aid organization.
So far, not even a tweet.

The military wing of the Popular Front (Gaza terror group) has released footage of rockets being launched at IDF forces in Beit Lahia from a civilian tented area, in the northern jihadist occupied Gaza Strip, using plastic sewage pipes. They are of course wearing civilian clothing and firing from within civilian areas as always which is a war crime.
The “civilians” know exactly what’s going on and support them. They even show a paper showing today’s date.
So if you hear that “civilian” tents have been destroyed, don’t cry and moan. You now know exactly why. And the responsibility does not lay with Israel.

🚨 SFUSD’s ethnic studies course is rolling out without board approval — and with serious concerns over bias & accuracy.
Ex-CA PTA President Carol Kocivar warns: this isn’t education, it’s indoctrination.

This is unfortunately part and parcel of a far broader problem: the ideological takeover of education. Time to put a stop to it.

What happened in Boto wasn’t random violence—it was jihad. Just as Hamas brought terror to Israeli civilians on October 7th, Fulani Islamist militants brought war to a peaceful African village, taking hostages and demanding ransom.
That’s a great China First argument or Russia First argument - reducing American research, development, and manufacturing and giving other countries influence where they had little.

I believe in the right of the Palestinian people to live in dignity.
I believe that not all Palestinians are Hamas, and that many deserve a better chance in this life.
But the idea of a Palestinian state or recognition of a state under the current circumstances is totally wrong and doomed to fail.
The focus should first be on developing a Palestinian leadership that is willing to:
(1) Publicly accept Israel as a Jewish state
(2) Teach its children not to hate Jews
(3) Inspire its population to see a future of thriving and prospering together with their Israeli neighbors
When this kind of leadership emerges, then we can talk about a state. But that leadership doesn’t exist today, and it won’t exist in the short to mid term.
The unilateral withdrawal from Gaza in 2005 was a preview of what a Palestinian state might look like without the right leadership, and it didn’t end well.
And after October 7, any talk of a future state under a failing leadership is just a way of escaping reality.
Let’s be realistic in our solutions for real and permanent peace in the region.
Let’s stop spouting unrealistic ideas that we all know won’t work.

I just refuse to let politics flatten every story. Anything I say, we’re told we’re hiding a nationalist project.
I’m a Jew. I’m Lebanese. I’m a Rabbi. I’ve studied my people’s history. I’m steeped in both cultures because both shaped each other.
That’s not apolitical. It’s textured.
I believe in Jewish sovereignty, not as a reaction to modern states, but as something ancient and continuous. It’s in our Tora, our laws, our liturgy, our language. It’s why I speak the way I speak. I’ve never hidden myself here. Or anywhere.
But I’m not constructing some elaborate myth. I’m describing an atmosphere. One where even mentioning Jews from Arab lands (read, Islamicate) without the right performance of disavowal is enough to draw backlash. Where rigorous, serious work gets buried because people are afraid. Where fear is thick enough to shape policy before anyone says a word.
That’s not theoretical. That’s a social reality.
I’ve had students and professors alike tell me the same thing. It’s why I turned down Columbia for my master’s, even after being offered a scholarship. My mentor warned me it wasn’t worth it, not for this topic.
You say I’m attributing intent. I’m describing what actually happens.
Maybe the boycott movement is about institutional critique. But in practice, as an obvious byproduct, it empowers those who go beyond institutions. To individuals. To cultural memory. To silence.
You say I’m smuggling in politics “under the guise of heritage.” But that’s the problem. That Jewish stories, especially from the MENA, can’t stand unless they serve someone else’s narrative. In either direction.
When I said there’s an “enduring contempt for Jewish presence,” I meant presence.
Not ideology. Not state policy. Just the discomfort so many feel when Jews speak in our own voice, without apology, without translation.
That’s not nuance. That’s coercion.
You want to talk intent. I’m talking atmosphere. The temperature in the room.
The quiet calculations people make when they say: “This is beautiful and important work, but maybe we shouldn’t promote it too loudly.”
As I said before: Not everything needs to be filtered through your anxieties.
Some of us are just living what we’ve inherited.

A horrible photo of a girl from Gaza that looks starved is circulating and becoming viral on social media and the global press.
The problem is it’s a photo from 2019, of a girl from Morocco.
We need to look critically at content coming from Gaza; recently, fakes are being discovered daily.
I wish every child and Gaza, Israel and around the world the best of health.
