When you’re sitting on the platform waiting for a third train after two cancellations just remember that SEPTA is the most efficient transit agency in the country.

This is worse than when you were intentionally canceling trains to inconvenience people and pressure lawmakers. Morning train cancelled and now evening train 40 min late and likely cancelled. No longer a reliable transportation option for commuters

This afternoon, I joined @FTAMarcMolinaro for an oversight inspection of several of our local SEPTA stations. Repeated failures of poor management has left both riders and frontline workers in our community, and the entire region, bearing the consequences—missed work, lost time, strained resources, and eroded trust. Worst of all, safety has been compromised. Riders and crews have been put at risk by practices that tolerate breakdowns and ignore warnings. That is unacceptable, and accountability will no longer be optional. Moving forward, we will ensure greater federal accountability, enforce oversight, demand transparency, and insist on results. Together, we will once again put SEPTA riders and workers first and restore confidence in the safe, reliable transit our communities deserve. Riders and workers deserve nothing less. The days of failure without consequence are over.

SEPTA general manager Scott Sauer long claimed that the agency's service cuts were necessary in order to maintain a balanced budget. While testifying under oath, he changed his story:

In Fiscal Year 2024, SEPTA had 44 routes with an operating ratio 10% or less - passenger revenue covered 10¢ or less for every dollar @SEPTA spent to operate the route. They total cost of these routes was $186,000,000 Half of them moved fewer than 10 people per hour
Before more tax dollars are injected into SEPTA, PA lawmakers - esp @PAGOP - should ask @SEPTA for their specific plan to address the abysmal operating ratio The authority has overseen a system with comparatively higher costs and lower levels of service for the last several years. It's an unsustainable model to repeatedly ask for more state tax money for a regional commuter system

How do you not extend #Septa train service for an event of this magnitude? Philadelphia and the region deserve a customer-first focus. Even service to the stadiums lacks awareness, particularly on post-event plans.

@SEPTA_SOCIAL @FailSepta @SEPTA If Septa strikes which is inevitable, how are those of us who pay in advance going to be refunded on our Key Cards? Maybe we should just take free rides like the fare evaders do daily... I'll need to save 💲for @lyft rides anyway! 🧐🧐🧐

SEPTA’s CEO Leslie Richards says fare hikes and service reductions are on the horizon due to the $100 million state budget shortfall. The current effects of the shortfall have enacted a hiring freeze and mandatory overtime for workers. bit.ly/3YH9DZD

@FailSepta now @septa @SEPTA_SOCIAL has buses that are untracked and then they just don’t show up. There are no delays, no operator unavailability, no detours. The buses just aren’t showing up

So are we ready to have the conversation about how paying foreign firms to "fabricate" train cars in American "factories" is a failed industrial policy?
SCOOP: @SEPTA has terminated its $185 Million contract to buy double decker regional rail passenger train cars. Multiple sources tell me and SEPTA just confirmed to me. 1/3
