We simply have to stop appointing bishops whose ability to manage exceeds their desire to.
The Francis Papacy in particular has been dominated by choices of bishops who are perfect reflections of the failed 1980s version of American Catholicism.
There is not one intelligent person who would spend time in any Diocese, look over the landscape and think to themselves “You know what we really need to do? Ban the Saint Michael prayer after mass.”
Final note on this topic:
Not two months ago a left-wing publication put out an article about why we shouldn’t pray that Saint Michael prayer after mass.
If you do not think this is a coordinated effort, you haven’t been paying attention.
Our local bishop is banning the St Michael prayer from the end of Mass.
His article, in the local Catholic paper, explains that in order to celebrate the liturgy “in accordance with the mind of the Church” priests need to “catechize the people of God as we move away from additional prayers recited together immediately before, during, and immediately after Mass.”

Jose Ramirez learned to hit on a dirt field across the river from his house, swinging a stick at bottle caps.
Cleveland signed him out of there for $50,000.
Tonight he hit a home run on a pitch that was under 9 inches off the ground, and the Cleveland Guardians are going to the American League Championship Series.
Here is the whole thing.
He grew up in Bani, in the Dominican Republic. The family house sat across the Rio Bani from the field where the kids played.
His father could not find steady work.
"He didn't have much work, we didn't have much money."
His grandmother Santa raised him.
"She taught me the values of helping the community."
She died in 2023.
The game they played in Bani is called Vitilla. A bottle cap for a ball, a stick for a bat.
"I had to play with a glove that was too tight."
Miguel Tejada, who is also from Bani, used to run a clinic that handed out food and equipment to kids who needed it. Ramirez remembers getting in that line.
Then in 2009 he took some swings at a showcase in front of Cleveland scouts, and they signed him for $50,000.
That was 17 years ago. He has never played for anybody else.
In January he signed an extension through 2032 with a full no trade clause, and tore up a deal that still had three years and $69 million on it.
Seven All Star teams. 285 home runs and 287 stolen bases.
He has never won a World Series. Cleveland has not won one since 1948.
And this was the worst year of his career. He had surgery on the hamate bone in his left hand and he never really looked like himself again.
Then this series started and Cleveland lost the first two games at home to the Chicago White Sox.
Down 0 and 2. One loss from the end of it.
Game 3 he went 2 for 4 and Cleveland won.
Game 4, facing elimination, he hit a two run home run and drove in three, and Cleveland won again.
Game 5 tonight, facing elimination again. Fourth inning. Sean Burke throws him a 78 mile an hour curveball that crosses the plate 0.74 feet off the ground.
He hits it 348 feet over the right field fence.
Nobody has homered on a lower pitch in a postseason game since baseball started tracking where pitches cross the plate in 2008.
He is also the first Cleveland hitter ever to homer in two straight postseason games while facing elimination in both of them.
Those two runs were the only runs anybody scored. Gavin Williams struck out 12 and gave up one hit. Cleveland 2, Chicago White Sox 0.
Now the honest part. He is 34 and he had a bad regular season, Cleveland lost five of six to the Tampa Bay Rays this year, and Game 1 is Monday night in Tampa.
But a kid who learned to hit bottle caps with a stick just took a curveball off his shoelaces and ended a series with it.

Friends, the new atheist movement appealed to the innate rebellious instinct of millions of young people. But the message that they come from nowhere and are going nowhere left their lives void of purpose and meaning.
I believe that the resurgence of religion we’re seeing now is a direct reaction to this spiritually and psychologically hopeless view.
We’re hungry for God, who gives our lives meaning and sends us on mission!

The hardest part of being a Covid dissident is telling everyone that the Emperor has no clothes on but no one will listen… and throwing a stone at Goliath and realizing the forces you’re fighting are bigger and stronger than Goliath.

Friends, many attempts have been made to ground our equality and rights in something other than God. But not only do such attempts leave us unable to speak coherently about equality and rights; they also undermine and threaten them.
If you doubt me, look at what happened with the atheistic totalitarian regimes of the last century.
The only way we can truly speak of equality and rights is by appealing, as Jefferson did, to the creator. As Blessed Fulton Sheen put it memorably: The Declaration of Independence is “also a Declaration of Dependence” upon God.

I spent 14.5 years inside Allegheny County Pretrial. I wrote the recommendations. After the grant money arrived, release became the product.
MacArthur paid this county about $5.5 million to shrink the jail. The county’s own report said the goal was a 20% cut. They beat it and got renewed. Pretrial’s director told the Post-Gazette the office decided it would not recommend money. Judge Howsie told the Jail Oversight Board a pretrial recommendation never includes a monetary condition. You are in or you are out.
The override logs were tampered with. Do not trust what is left in the file.
A Pittsburgh pediatrician is dead. The man charged was out on a no-cash bond. That is the design.
@POTUS @realDonaldTrump @FBI @FBIPittsburgh @TheJusticeDept lock the offices down and seize everything. Grant agreements, emails, recommendation files, servers, backups, the lot.
Do not let another record walk out of that building. @macfound paid for empty beds. @ZitoSalena already put the paperwork on the record. @AlleghenyCoDA the standing rule is still in place.
I am not dropping this.

Charlie Kirk died with a microphone in his hand—not a gun, a knife, or a grenade, but an instrument of communication. When we stop believing in the dignity of the human person, violence takes its place. A year later, that is still the wound. May he rest in peace.

Word has just come down that St. Paul’s Cathedral in London—the second most important church in the Anglican world—has imitated Canterbury Cathedral in permitting “raves,” nightclub-like entertainments, to take place in its confines.
The usual reasons for acquiescing to this have been trotted out: reaching out to the young, trying to get with the times, etc. But this development simply shows that the leadership of the Church of England has lost any sense of the crucial distinction between the sacred and the secular.
Across the centuries and across the cultures, our ancestors seem to have intuitively grasped the importance of this demarcation. Whereas the secular is the arena of ordinary experience and activity, the sacred is another realm, a different dimension.
Accordingly, in the properly sacred space, one is lifted out of the conventional and introduced into the numinous. This is why Christian cathedrals are filled with images of the saints and angels and why their interiors are meant first to disorient us and then to reorient us toward the divine.
It is also why, in the initiation rituals of primal peoples, a young person is purposely ripped out of the ordinary and introduced into the mythic and mystic dimension. And it is why, throughout the Bible, sacred spaces are carefully set apart from common spaces.
The contemporary West is, quite literally, the first culture in human history that is in danger of collapsing the sacred into the secular, or better, losing any sense of the difference between the two.
This is doing enormous damage, especially to young people, whose lives have been flattened into a preoccupation with money, worldly success, and material things.
The Church indeed should go out into the secular space to find those who have wandered away from God, but it should then lead those wanderers back to the holy.
Having “raves” in the nave of one of the most sacred spaces in the Christian world is, I’m sad to say, another sign of our pitiful surrender to ideological secularism.
